[edit] History

The station was originally launched in 2002 as CHNR-FM, a nostalgia station owned by CKVN Radiolink System Inc. It was acquired by Newcap Radio in 2005, and adopted an adult album alternative format on December 26th of that year. At the time, the station, which also changed its call sign to CKFE-FM, announced that it was the first Canadian radio station to present the Triple-A format.

The station then adopted its current format and branding on December 26th, 2006.

In September 2007, NewCap Manitoba Inc. successfully applied to the CRTC for a power increase for HANK-FM, citing reception difficulties in the market. On December 6th 2007, CHNK-FM was granted the power increase. Taking 100.7 FM from 1,300 watts to an average effective radiated power of 60,200 watts.
