Chaplin No. 164 is a rural municipality of 138 rural residents (2006 census) in the southwestern part of Saskatchewan, Canada. The RM was incorporated January 1, 1913.[1] Other urban municipalities in the area include Chaplin, Droxford, Halvorgate, Melaval and Val Jean . Chaplin Lake is a large saline lake in this area. The producation of sodium sulphate is a major economic industry combined with grain and livestock agriculture.[2][3]

A rural municipality is an administrative district consisting of an elected reeve, councillors, administrator who provide essential services within their area.
