[edit] Speedy Delete of Artemis Fowl (film)
i assume i am replying to you correctly by editing this page... so if i was sourcing a webpage that has done interviews with the author of the book/movie would i just put a link somewhere in the article to those interviews then? I did go ahead and read that link you gave me for movies and i don't see there is enough information out there to really put and article up for this movie so I am asking really for future reference. When you source something do you just blatantly put the url you're sourcing from on the page? LOl i thought this would just be fun helping to update and add to the collective of information but heck, its a whole new world in here with a whole new language haha. I have a whole new respect now for wikipedia --Bannostookaylo (talk) 06:33, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy Delete of Artemis Fowl (film)
wow i am incredibly new to this and i am so sorry if i am doing things very wrong. I was just wanting to find information on the Artemis Fowl movie and found information on it and thought it should be on wikipedia too. I believe if i read things right you deleted it because of "Non notable film"? I am at a loss as to what exactly that means... is there anything i can do to get some information up about the upcoming film? Thanks for your time. --Bannostookaylo (talk) 06:18, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy Delete of Beecontent's recent entries
Carados and Admin of Wikipedia: please note that I am new to posting on Wikipedia and I am not trying to vandalise it. Please forgive me if my recent entries were 'inappropriate' but I really believe that they are appropriate for Wikipedia. Can we at least talk about it?
Thank you. Beecontent (talk) 19:50, 16 December 2007 (UTC) Beecontent
I'm new at using this so forgive me if I am doing it wrong. Herbiemania.com has been written about in various magazines. What information is needed beyond that for the article to stay online?

[edit] Guennol Lioness speedy declined
Hi, I declined the speedy deletion on this. It was not unsalvageably incoherent-- just a little bent. I made it sensible and added a source. Also, 5,000 year old Elamite statues that sell for $52,000,000 are inherently notable. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 03:29, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help me
{{helpme}} The article on Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival seems to be screwed up, and I would like to fix it, to prevent something like http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Coachella_Valley_Music_and_Arts_Festival&oldid=176274487 happening again.
Also, how do I link to a revision?
Thank you in advance.
- How is the article screwed up? All I can see seriously wrong is the duplicate references section, which I have removed. The only problem with the edit you undid was the unclosed <ref> tag (it needs a </ref> at the end), which led to the whole article after that point being treated as a reference (and thus appearing in both reference sections). I'm not aware of any way of linking to a revision except with the url, as you have done. Algebraist 05:22, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] speedy
DB-nn, speedy criterion A7 does not apply to conferences. it applies only to the things listed in WP:CSD A7. Furthermore, any conference asserting an attendance of 10,00 people would be at least as assertion of notability. If you think the notability of Metamorphosis Empowerment Conference dubious, and you may well be right, the way to go is WP:AFD. DGG (talk) 08:02, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Lavamus.com deletion
Hi,
I noticed the page Lavamus.com is attempting to be deleted. I think this page should stay, because new information is released daily, and also the references are listed. I realize it doesn't fully comply with quality standards, but I believe it should stay.
I have noticed your other deletions, and agree with them, but I believe this article should stay.
Thanks. --PLGG1 (talk) 22:56, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unitrin Inc
Hey, I left some reasoning on why the article should not be deleted on the Talk:Unitrin Inc page. I don't exactly know why you think it is Blatant Advertising, but as I am new to editing wikipedia you could enlighten me. What really shocks me is that there were no articles pertaining to Unitrin Inc; it needs an article. I would gladly re-write it if you would tell me what I did wrong this time. [edit] Ballet Fantastique
Hi, Could you look over the page Ballet Fantastique. It was removed by wiki admin because it had advertising, so I rewrote some of it and got it back up. Also, I was in such a hurry to get the new page up that I forgot to capitalize the whole title. Could you tell me how I could get a letter in the title changed please. You put a note on it saying it would be removed because it may be irrelevant, but I am building more references. I have a bunch of new resources and information to put up, but I want to be sure it is ok so far. You could leave a note on my page. Thank you, Christy

[edit] notability
notability can be a difficult thing to produce, Newsprint seems the most direct, and not accesible to all experiences and activities. Only the most priviledged, the greatest, and the most notorious will be found in print. I'm not really sure what else constitutes notability, mention on someone's webpage? In the 36plus months the Permaculture group has existed it has had some 150 members, and a larger looser group of allies. Has contributed substantial work to the Alameda Point Collaborative, Tinkers Workshop, Peoples Park, and the longest urban treesit(UC Berkeley Memorial Oak Grove Treesit). Has Contributed real work hours (for several months each) to the Prison Literature Project, the Ashby Garden, East Bay Food Not Bombs, Berkeley Copwatch, the Peoples Groceries 55th St Garden, the Green Fairie Farm, the BYA(berkeley youth alternatives), The Plant(community garden and attempted ecovillage)/ , Berkeleys Green City Gallery and many other projects. What direction can you give, the only direction I have is a simple dismissal.

[edit] Revision to Giant Oil and Gas Fields
Carados, you were right with your flag on Giant Oil and Gas Fields. I've rewritten it (i was the original author yesterday) in what I hope is a more encyclopedic style addressing the synthesis flag. ArglebargleIV flagged two sections for copypaste, rightly, and those have been addressed with a complete rewrite--original writing, reporting on the sources. Please have a look and let me know if your tag can come off. I'm separately writing ArgleBargleIV. --Austinbirdman (talk) 17:48, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] AfD rationale
Hey Carados. I have closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Einar Torfi Einarsson but I just wanted to mention that WP:VANITY is deprecated as a link (it is a soft redirect to WP:COI because of its pejorative name), and in any event, mentioning conflicts of interest can serve to bolster other arguments, but has no teeth and little deletion traction. It's much better to cite to some accepted standard for article inclusion, such as WP:N, WP:V and WP:NOT in deletion debates. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:28, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy Deletion
I see no reason why RC Bad Reichenhall should be deleted. It is a sports club and not a group or person as your message suggested. The page may be bare at the moment but that is because it is a rather new club. In 2008, when the club gets going into the domestic competition (as I said in the article) then there will be much more to say including Season, History, Colours, Results etc. I am also hoping to direct people to the page who might have some more information which can be added. As I've done with other rugby league clubs (see West Wales Sharks and Bridgend Blue Bulls). Please leave the page as it is for at least 7 days so that I can try to expand it. [edit] Please be somewhat cautious with speedy deletions
Please assume good faith when dealing with other editors. Thank you.
I noticed you requested many speedy deletions, and many of them get overturned by established editors. In a similar discussion, User:DGG recommended "You should aim at at least 90%--and more like 98%" for the proportion of articles that actually need to be speedied. — Sebastian 23:24, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- In a similar conversation with another editor, I realized that I may have been a bit harsh in not assuming AGF. Thanks for alerting me to this; it was fun to read. It's a pity that I've resolved not to feed the trolls, or I'd have thanked its creator -- well, perhaps not, since I believe that "You can tell the quality of a man by the quality of his enemies," and this one just doesn't measure up. [edit] Speedy deletion of Iperf
Hi Carados - i added this page as Iperf is one of the standard tools available. There is already an existing stub article on Ttcp - another common tool which had a blank link to an article on Iperf - and an article on bandwidth testing - which referred to tools without providing any examples. So i added an article on iperf to line up with the existing content. If the article is not in line with guidance perhaps the this one and the ttcp page content should be merged onto the Bandwidth testing page if you feel that each article is not stand alone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davepark (talk • contribs) 04:33, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Questioning the speedy deletion of the recently added ProjectExplorer article. [edit] Two Loons for Tea entry status
Carados,
I have now read the Wikipedia Business_FAQ and Wikipedia:BAND pages and acknowledge the CoI issue (However, I trust the entry's language was eminently objective and a purely factual minimal foundation for others to build upon). Also, the submission was made to provide context for existing mentions of the artist in other Wikipedia entries (Happy Rhodes, Sarathan Records, Eric Rosse, etc.), and that other Wikipedia entries ([[e.g., Matt Chamberlain, Skerik etc.) could, with reason, be meaningfully supplemented with reference to this artist, per below.
W/r/t "notability" criteria in Wikipedia:BAND, I will note that the submission merits inclusion in Wikipedia in regards to six of the criteria therein:
Q: has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable.[1]
A: Yes. Scores of published reviews in regional and national periodicals including All Music Guide, Amplifier, Big Takeover, Relix, Seattle Sound, Yahoo! Music, etc.
Q: Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country, reported in reliable sources.[3]
A. Yes, US & Europe, and links to published sources available online (ranging from LA Weekly to newspapers in Lisbon, Portugal).
Q: Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable).
A: Yes. Three full-length records released on Sarathan Records (founded in 2000) which has releases by notable artists including Abra Moore, [[Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players]], and Airpushers (two members of Black Eyed Peas band).
Q: Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such.
A: Yes. Band members for recordings and/or live shows have included Matt Chamberlain, Skerik, Pat Mastelotto, Trey Gunn, Brian Lacleod and many others, and recordings produced by Eric Rosse.
Q: Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network.
A: Yes: XM Radio, and extensive play of bumpers on NPR's "All Things Considered". Also, latest single, "Monkey", charted #20 on FMQB AAA Charts in 2007 (not sure if this qualifies as "national rotation on major radio network", as the AAA stations are not "properly" a "network" like Clear Channel).
Q: Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast across a national radio or TV network.
A: Yes. Two > 30 min shows recorded at XM radio HQ in 2003 and 2007 have been broadcast multiple times, most recently on the Starbucks Cafe channel.
I'll leave it up to you Wikipedians involved in this discussion as to how this entry should be handled. If you feel it is appropriate for me to include relevant information from above into the article per Wikipedia guidelines, I will gladly do so!
Very graciously,
Jonathan Kochmer SarathanRecords (talk) 09:46, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Reading the policies is good. It sounds like you may be in a position to add references to the Two loons for tea article. I would encourage you to do that, because what's there now is not enough to justify an article. I don't think Sarathan Records counts as a major label, so having records issued there doesn't meet WP:BAND, though it's in the right direction. Thanks, Ed. With Wikiwatcher approval now, I shall go ahead and add some more purely factual information for the candidate Two Loons for Tea article that demonstrate notability. I understand your point about Sarathan Records not being a "major" -- but there are five other criteria from WP:BAND that the artist fulfills...
I'll just make sure to document above appropriately, and let the wiki winds blow where they may from there on out...
One dumb & niggly little mechanical question: the headline for the article is "Two loons for tea" instead of "Two Loons for Tea"... how do I edit the article headline? I wouldn't care terribly, but it seems (possibly?) that case sensitivity is resulting in this candidate article not being actively linked from other approved WikiPedia articles in which the artist is already mentioned. Or perhaps this is due to the transient limbo/purgatory status of the article?
Thanks so much (from a wikinewbi! :) SarathanRecords (talk) 04:10, 3 January 2008 (UTC) SarathanRecords
- I renamed the article to Two Loons for Tea, per your request. There is still a redirect from the old name, in case not all the references get updated. EdJohnston (talk) 12:58, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Richard Krawiec
Hi I'm afraid I took your speedy deletion message too personally last nite. I ended up logging off, I was too upset to focus. I realize you are doing an important job, and I'm not completely sure Krawiec satisfies notability anyway, much as I like him.(Time will tell, as will hopefully other more knowledgeable editors here, if I'm lucky enough that they contribute to the article.) But what I'm actually here is to let you know that you may be quite unintentionally and very slightly too abrupt in your notifications to article creators.. You are certainly very civil, but a little softening might help. Whether or not you agree, thanks for doing an important job!Rich (talk) 00:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Would you like me to semi-protect your userpage? You're getting a ton of vandalism. jj137 ♠ 03:54, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
