Brian Goodell (born April 2, 1959) is an American swimmer and olympic champion. He competed at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, where he received a gold medal in 400 m freestyle, and a gold medal in 1500 m freestyle.[1] He received gold medals in 400 m freestyle and 1500 m freestyle at the 1979 Pan American Games in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He received a silver medal in 1500 m freestyle at the 1975 World Aquatics Championships in Cali.

Goodell held the world record in 400 m freestyle, long course from 18 June 1976 to 6 April 1979, and the world record in 1500 m freestyle, long course from 1976 to 1980.

- 1986: inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.[2][3]
