[edit] Boundaries
Following a boundary reorganization in the early 1980s, parts of the former constituencies of Bolton East and Farnworth became part of the new constituency of Bolton South East with effect from the 1983 General Election. Unlike the other two Bolton seats, it has remained safely Labour, with the majority of wards returning councillors in their camp; the only strong ward for the Conservatives here is Hulton.
[edit] Boundary review
Following their review of parliamentary representation in Greater Manchester, the Boundary Commission for England have recommended the creation of three constituencies to represent the Bolton area. The electoral wards used in the creation of a modified Bolton South East are:
- Farnworth, Great Lever, Harper Green, Hulton, Kearsley, Little Lever and Darcy Lever, and Rumworth.
