Billy Mehmet (born 3 January 1984 in London) is an Irish professional footballer of Turkish descent for Scottish Premier League club St Mirren. He has Turkish father and Irısh-English mother. His nickname is Dancer about his break-dance after scoring goals.[1]
A London born forward, Billy began his career with West Ham United where he was captain of The Academy of Football before transferring to Dunfermline Ath. in 2003. Two years later he transferred to St Mirren.
Mehmet qualifies for Ireland thanks to an Irish grandmother. He has played for the Republic of Ireland under-21 national football team and made his debut against Poland on 27 April 2004.
On February 22nd 2008 Mehmet extended his contact with St Mirren to 2010.[2]
