[edit] Biography

As a child, Dorman attended Hawarden High School. He played for the Wales U-18 schools team which is open to all children attending school in Wales. However, he has no qualification for the Welsh national team. He would need to appeal to FIFA and state that he had lived in Wales all of his life until he attended Boston University.

Dorman was drafted 58th overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft out of Boston University by the New England Revolution, and succeeded in making the team's 2004 developmental roster. At BU, Dorman was named to the All-New England first team twice, and the second team once. In his first season with the Revs, Dorman clocked only 365 minutes, but scored two goals and an assist in that time, evincing an attacking flair.

The 2006 season was truly a breakout year for Dorman, as he played in all 32 games for the Revs, scoring 6 goals and assisting on 10 others. During a season when many Revolution players missed time due to injury, suspension, or international duty, Dorman was forced to play many roles and positions. His diligence and creativity on the attack gained the attention and respect of many around the league, and he was named the 2006 "Man of the Year" by the Midnight Riders, the Revolution's independent supporters group.

Not technically Welsh himself (there is just one actual Welsh MLS player, that being Welsh international Carl Robinson of Toronto FC) Dorman is ineligible to play for the Wales national team. Although he grew up in Wales and identifies himself as Welsh, Dorman was born in England and his family is English. Due to this, English FA rules regulate that he is only eligible to play for the English national team. He has expressed interest in either playing for the English national team, filing an appeal to FIFA in order to play for the Wales national team, or gaining American citizenship and playing for the USA national team. Won with the Revs the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in 2007.

While Dorman wanted to re-sign with the Revs in MLS, contract negotiations fell through and Dorman agreed to sign with SPL outfit St Mirren on 28th December 2007, with him being eligible to play on 1st January 2008.[2] The contract is for 18 months with an option of an extra year. St Mirren are based in Scotland's biggest town of Paisley. Dorman played his first League game on January 19, 2008, and provided an early assist in a 3-1 St. Mirren victory. Dorman cemented a growing relationship with St Mirren fans by scoring a peach in the 2007/2008 fifth round Scottish Cup replay against Dundee United earning Saints a deserved win. However, after a series of prolific performances he has attracted possible offers from other teams in the SPL including Hibernian and Aberdeen, and is impressing clubs in the English Championship, something that many believe is the reason he returned to british football. His determinaion for St Mirren to do well in the Scottish cup this season has also inspired brilliant performances and has raised the countries awareness of St Mirren's football.
