[edit] The Name Basket?

Where does the name basket come from?C39 20:28, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not only in cerebellum?

I stumble upon statements about basket cells in the cortex too, like here: Furthermore, in rat neocortex, FS GABA neurons are composed of at least two different subpopulations that can be distinguished morphologically: basket cells, which provide inhibitory input to the soma, proximal dendrites and spines of pyramidal cells, and chandelier neurons, which target the initial segments of the pyramidal cell axon (Kawaguchi 1993Go, 1995Go; Kawaguchi and Kubota 1993Go). --CopperKettle 13:45, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Of course basket cells are in the hippocampus too. at least 2 different populations (pyramidal-shaped and non pyramidal shaped). other classifications based of the neurochemical content divide baket cells in PV+, CCk+ or VIP+. --User:Brudda kemist
