Basketball at the 1980 Summer Olympics

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Basketball at the 1980 Summer Olympics was held at the Indoor Stadium of the Olimpiski Sports Complex and at the Sports Palace of the Central Sports Club of the Army, both located in Moscow. Two basketball events were contested: men's team and women's team. Finals of both events were held 30 July at the Indoor Stadium of the Olimpiski Sports Complex.

Due to American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics the United States did not participate in the 1980 Olympics. The 1980 Olympics marked the second time that the United States did not win the gold medal in Olympic basketball; the Soviet Union had previously won in 1972.
