Ahmed Apimah Barusso (born December 26, 1984 in Accra) is a Ghanaian football central midfielder, currently with AS Roma of Italy.
Barusso started off his European footballing career at Manfredonia, where he moved after recommendations by Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele, from FC Nania of Accra. He helped Manfredonia to three successive promotions from the Italian amateur leagues (Serie D) to Serie C1.
At the start of the 2006-07 season Barusso was signed by Serie B club Rimini in a co-ownership deal that was later turned permanent after his immediate impact at his new club,[1] including man of the match performances against Juventus and Bologna.[2]. Barusso's success was nearly halted, however, after a fractured tibia after a tackle by Alfredo Cardinale in the week 9 game at Crotone,[3] forcing him to miss several games due to surgery.
On Friday 15 June 2007, it was reported in the Italian media that AS Roma have secured the co-ownership signing of Barusso from Serie B side Rimini.[4] The move was made official on July 5 2007.[5] Barusso made his Serie A debut for AS Roma in a 3-0 away win over Parma on October 7, 2007, at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
Barusso was loaned to Turkish giants Galatasaray in January 2008 but returned to his club owners at the end of that same season.

[edit] International career
Barusso was part of the Ghanaian Olympic Team, known as the Black Meteors that qualified for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. He made his senior international debut against Rwanda on 6 July 2003 in a 2004 African Cup of Nations Qualifier match in Kigali when he was 18 years old, but his future call-ups were stalled by his move to the Italian lower leagues. After ACN 2008 (African cup of nations)he was transferred to Galatasaray SK. On his first match he scored against Bayer Leverkusen but Galatasaray SK was defeated 5-1.
Due to the similar high stamina, powerful shot, strength and aggression, Barusso has been dubbed the new Michael Essien.
Barusso is without a doubt one of the most promising central midfielders around. His physical attributes are extraordinary but he must raise his tactical awareness and self-control in order to achieve Michael Essien's level .
