  • December 4, 1988: Mark Portugal was traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Houston Astros for a player to be named later. The Houston Astros sent Todd McClure (minors) (December 7, 1988) to the Minnesota Twins to complete the trade. [1]
  • January 10, 1989: Rick Rhoden was traded by the New York Yankees to the Houston Astros for John Fishel, Mike Hook (minors), and Pedro DeLeon (minors). [2]
