The highlight of the season was the arrival of Frank Robinson to the club. In 1975, the Cleveland Indians named him player-manager, giving him distinction of being the first black manager in the Majors. [1]

- May 20, 1975: Blue Moon Odom was traded by the Oakland Athletics with cash to the Cleveland Indians for Dick Bosman and Jim Perry. [1]
- June 3, 1975: Rick Cerone was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 1st round (7th pick) of the 1975 amateur draft. [2]
- June 7, 1975: Blue Moon Odom was traded by the Cleveland Indians with a player to be named later to the Atlanta Braves for Roric Harrison. The Cleveland Indians sent Rob Belloir (June 16, 1975) to the Atlanta Braves to complete the trade. [3]
