Yucaipa is located at (34.030275, -117.048613)[1].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 71.9 km² (27.8 mi²). 71.9 km² (27.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.04% is water.

The City incorporated in 1989. Since that time, the community has experienced a significant level of growth to the current population of approximately 50,500 residents but as of the census[2] of 2000, there were 41,207 people, 15,193 households, and 10,680 families residing in the city. The population density was 572.7/km² (1,483.4/mi²). There were 16,112 housing units at an average density of 223.9/km² (580.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 85.21% White, 0.90% African American, 1.08% Native American, 1.18% Asian, 0.13% Pacific Islander, 8.04% from other races, and 3.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 18.35% of the population.
There were 15,193 households out of which 35.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 11.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% were non-families. 25.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.21.
In the city the population was spread out with 28.5% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 93.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $39,144, and the median income for a family was $48,683. Males had a median income of $40,480 versus $25,957 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,949. About 8.8% of families and 11.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.2% of those under age 18 and 7.2% of those age 65 or over.

In the state legislature Yucaipa is located in the 31st Senate District, represented by Republican Robert Dutton, and in the 63rd and 65th Assembly Districts, represented by Republicans Bill Emmerson and Paul Cook respectively. Federally, Yucaipa is located in California's 41st congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of R +9[3] and is represented by Republican Jerry Lewis.

Yucaipa is home to numerous parks, including Yucaipa Regional Park, Flag Hill Veterans Memorial Park, Seventh Street Park, "I" Street Park, and Wildwood Park. Recently added was the Yucaipa Community Park, the Bryant Glen Sports Complex and the Jerry Lewis Regional Soccer Complex.

Yucaipa Adobe (California Historical Landmark #528) is located at 32183 Kentucky Street, Yucaipa (909)-795-3485. Prior to the Spanish conquest of the Americas and the arrival of European settlers from Mexico, the land occupied by Yucaipa Adobe had been occupied by the Serrano Indians for possibly 1,000 years.

Richard D.("Dick") Riddell is now the longest-serving Mayor(and the oldest, at age 81) in Yucaipa's history, holding that title since 1999.
Jim Taylor recently retired as YHS's longtime football coach and athletic director. He was at YHS for more than 30 years.
Yucaipa is best-known for its apple orchards, located seven miles (11 km) east of the City, in an area called Oak Glen, where its mile-high altitude results in some of the best-tasting apples ever grown (even better than those grown in Washington State).The first orchards were owned by the Parrish, Rivers, Law, and Wilshire families(the oldest being the Parrish Pioneer Ranch, founded by Enoch Parrish in 1876);descendants of the founding families currently own these orchards.
In 1936, twin brothers Cleo and Leo Stater bought the W.A. Davis Market and forever changed the way people shop at their supermarket when they(along with their younger brother LaVoy) started the Stater Bros. Markets chain(there are now 165 stores in the chain[as far north as Bakersfield,as far south as Escondido, as far west as West Los Angeles, as far east as Indio]).Stater Bros. Markets is best known for their on-site butchers in each store(where one can ask for freshly-ground beef or special cuts of spareribs or even chorizo);their original slogan was[until recently]:"It's the meat that made us famous", now replaced by "The Low-Priced Leader in the Heartland".The current headquarters(since 1956) was(until September 10, 2007) in the City of Colton, but has now moved to a new one-million square-foot facility at the eastern end of the old Norton Air Force Base(now San Bernardino International Airport). As for the chain's humble beginnings in Yucaipa, there are now two locations in town:the southeast corner of Bryant Street at Oak Glen Road, and in the 34300 block of Yucaipa Boulevard(between 4th and 5th Streets), and a third has been planned for almost ten years at the western end of town, near Interstate 10.
At 1:53 p.m. on Thursday, 16 June 2005, Yucaipa experienced a magnitude 4.9 earthquake centered four miles (6 km) north of the center of town. It was felt from downtown Los Angeles to some areas of San Diego. No damage was reported. It was close to, but not caused by, the well-known San Andreas Fault. This was the third noticeable earthquake in California in a week (geologists are quick to point out that earthquakes occur daily in California). The first was off the coast of Northern California and the second was close to Anza, California. Two more earthquakes occurred off the coast of Northern California over the course of the next few days. These five earthquakes had many local residents concerned that a much bigger earthquake was coming.
During the school year of 2005-2006 Yucaipa High school had the highest rise of their API in the tri-county area.
Yucaipa is frequently mentioned as the place of origin of a number of teenage callers to the late-night sex and health advice radio show Loveline. It is statistically quite improbable that so many of the show's callers actually come from Yucaipa, but the hosts of the show typically permit this bit of personal identity obfuscation.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department serves the entire Yucaipa Valley (including the nearby unincorporated towns of Mentone, Oak Glen, Forest Falls, Angeleus Oaks, and Mountain Home Village) from its regional station at 34282 Yucaipa Boulevard (at the northwest corner w/ Fifth);there is no jail facility at this station, so suspects must be booked at either Central Jail in downtown San Bernardino or the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, while the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (now known as "Cal-Fire") serves the City from two stations:the 11500 block of Bryant Street (just south of Oak Glen Road), and the 32000 block of Yucaipa Boulevard (just west of Yucaipa High School), with a third station now being built at the southwest corner of Fifth Street and Wildwood Canyon Road.
