WSRU (88.1 FM) is a 100 watt student operated radio station in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, in western Pennsylvania. The station licensee, Slippery Rock University Board of Trustees and Student Government Association (SGA) is authorized by the Federal Communications Commission.

WSRU is Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania's campus radio station. It is owned by the Student Government Association and the Board of Trustees of SRU. It is operated at 100 watts of power, serving SRU and the surrounding community. It is run entirely by SRU students and pride ourselves on providing diversity in our programming for our diverse student population.

- 1963 - WNFT, a carrier current AM radio station, becomes a recognized student organization (SGA funded) at Slippery Rock State College (now Slippery Rock University). The station's radio programming is only heard in the residence halls and student union on SRSC campus.
- 1970 - WNFT changes its student organization name to WRCK and logo "The Rock", for better association with college's nickname and music programming.
- 1981 - Werner Ullrich becomes new chief engineer for WRCK and begins a 2-year renovation of the station equipment and facilities (broadcast and production) for eventual FM operation.
- 1981 - Werner and the WRCK staff select Gregory Beat, Coordinator of Residence Education and Student Activities during this time period, to serve as faculty advisor. Together, they led the station based on their previous work and advisory experiences in commercial and college radio facilities.
- 1982 - Werner becomes General Manager of WRCK.
- 1983 - In December, Werner Ullrich receives MA from SRU -- the first graduates to have Slippery Rock University on their diplomas.
- 1985 - Werner accepts the position of Chief Engineer of Scott Broadcasting, Inc.
- 1986 - Werner becomes the contract engineer for WRCK.

- 1990 - Slippery Rock University installs and activates a campus-wide digital telephone system. This, in effect, eliminates the broadcast of WRCK-AM, as its carrier current AM transmission was dependent on the old analog telephone lines to the campus residence halls. WRCK broadcasts to the lobby of the University Union for the entire 1990 - 1991 academic year .
- 1990 - WRCK received a construction permit, number BPED-890424MK, for a non-commercial/educational FM license. The carrier current equipment is retired.
- 1990 - Call letters: WRSK becomes effective on November 30.
- 1991 - September 20, 1991-- First day on-air for WRSK.
- 1992 - November 2, 1992-- Presidential hopeful Jerry Brown calls and is interviewed by Richard Hart, host of WSRU's only talk radio program, "Straight to the Hart."
- 1994 - Torey Verts becomes the first female General Manager of WRSK.
- 1995 - Dr. Deborah Cohen becomes advisor of WRSK.
- 2006 - On December 1st, WRSK becomes WSRU
- 2006 - Dr. Deb Cohen serves as faculty advisor for WSRU. Werner Ullrich still serves as the station's engineer, celebrating his 25th year as WSRU's chief engineer.
