WQRI

WQRI is a radio station in Bristol, Rhode Island that broadcasts at 88.3 FM. This station is run by Roger Williams University and is the only college rock station in Rhode Island. It plays a variety of music ranging from alternative, to metal as well as some country as well as classic rock. In 2005, WQRI received the contract to rebroadcast Providence Bruins weekend games. These games can be heard both on 88.3 as well as the live stream that is on the internet. Also in 2005, WQRI began to offer stream on the internet, which can be heard worldwide.

One of the main objectives of WQRI is to promote music of any kind. They do promotions with local bands, as well as have at least one concert a year.

In 2006, WQRI co-sponsored a concert with the Roger Williams Musician Guild. The concert was the first of what the organization believed would be an annual concert. The headliner for the 2006 WQRI Spring Concert was Aloha. WQRI continued the concert in 2007 and organized the second annual WQRI spring concert with co-headliners Spiritual Rez and Apollo Sunshine.

  • Aloha - Inaugural Spring Semester Concert co-sponsored with RWU Musician's Guild.

  • The Bay State - This was the inaugural fall semester concert entitled "Foliage Fest." The Bay State played with *The Coming Weak at RWU Musician's Guild / WQRI's outside concert behind the New Academic Building on the Roger Williams University campus.
  • Stealing Jane - This was the 3rd annual spring semester concert entitled "Spring Spectacle." Stealing Jane played an hour-long set in the New Academic Building on the Roger Williams University campus.
