[edit] History

WKCY-AM went on the air in 1968. For many years the 5000 watt daytime station would sign off using the Red Foley tune "Peace in the Valley". WKCY was country until Mid-Atlantic (former owners of WINC) bought the AM1300 and sister FM104.3 (then WJSY) in 1988. In the early 90's, WKCY-AM flipped to talk then to the "Music of Your Life" format, then back to talk. Mid-Atlantic sold WKCY-AM/FM to Clear Channel in 2000. WKCY-AM/FM's studios are on University Blvd. near the Valley Mall in Harrisonburg.
