WKBC-FM (97.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Hot Adult Contemporary format.[1] Licensed to North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, USA. The station is currently owned by Wilkes Broadcasting Company, Inc. and features programing from Jones Radio Network and AP Radio.[2]
In October 2006, 97.3 WKBC was picked by the music critics of Charlotte's Creative Loafing Magazine as the Best "Charlotte" radio station of 2006; even though WKBC is located roughly an hour outside of Charlotte. [1] WKBC-FM's slogan is the "Home of Appalachian Football"; the station broadcasts the football games of nearby Appalachian State University.
WKBC-FM can be heard as far south as Rock Hill, SC, as far west as Johnson City, TN, as far north as Bluefield, WV and as far east as Greensboro, NC. The transmitter is located about 5 miles south of North Wilkesboro in southern Wilkes County.
