Talk:Wilfrid
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wilfrid persuaded the Synod of Whitby to adopt a form of Christianity that promised riches and power to the clergy (a bit of a no-brainer), he annoyed the King of Northumbria by encouraging his wife not to have sex with him. Every dispute he had with the local clergy he went squealing to the Pope about. Aethelweah took him in and gave him land when nobody else would touch with a barge pole. He then connived with Caedwalla to kill Athelweah and commit genocide on the Isle of Wight and when he went back to York managed to get himself banged up after further annoying just about everyone with his nit-picking sanctimony.
He is one of the most irritating self righteous bastards I have ever come across.
