[edit] Project directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 16:56, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] And now?

OK! You created the page. What from now on? I don't see any discussion about where is this project going, and what are its priorities. I wouldn't like to participate in a project, which is mainly inactive.--Yannismarou 19:25, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hmmm

You know, I hate to be a prick, but is "Cyprus" here about the island or the republic? If it is about the island, I would join in since it would help organizing Cyprus related articles (not political ones) and might be very useful. But I don't see anything about the Turkish Cypriots here. I mean, whatever people's opinions are, just being oblivious to the fact that there is another entity on the third of the island is not right either, right? Just throwing it out there... If it is about the island, the WP page should be rewritten. Baristarim 18:28, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 20:46, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cyprus-stub

I think the members of the project should voice themselves here, especially the Cypriots users.--Yannismarou 10:06, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merging Green Line (Cyprus) with United Nations Buffer Zone in Cyprus

I think Green Line (Cyprus) and United Nations Buffer Zone in Cyprus should be merged. Especially because there is currently no consistent use and sometimes the link United Nations Buffer Zone in Cyprus is used in combination with the text Green Line.

[edit] Merging postal services articles

There are two articles which are quite the same: List of postal codes in Cyprus and Postal services in Cyprus. I suggest that the first one should be merged into the second one.

Van der Hoorn 02:47, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Merged.

Today I've moved Postal services in Cyprus to Cyprus Postal Services which is the correct title of the Cyprus postal authority and the way the Philately project titles such Category:Postal organisations, by their proper name. It could well do with some expansion. An article Postage stamps and postal history of Cyprus is needed, so if someone knows about it, get in touch if you need some assistance. [edit] Confusion

I note that this project has added the European Union banner under the link to its own non-existent banner. Is this to imply that this project uses the EU banner as its own? Please clarify. John Carter 17:14, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bilateral relations discussion

I would like to invite you all to participate in a discussion at this thread regarding bilateral relations between two countries. All articles related to foreign relations between countries are now under the scope of WikiProject Foreign relations, a newly created project. We hope that the discussion will result in a more clean and organized way of explaining such relationships. Thank you. Ed ¿Cómo estás? 18:13, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:Cyprus Overhaul

I've recently joined WP:CYP and saw that it was lacking. I've added a sidebar {{WPCyprus Sidebar}}, moved the members to their own page, created a template for Cyprus/Cypriot related article {{WPCYP}} and got the page to be update nightly by the WP1.0 Bot (the Statistics box you see in the sidebar). I've also tagged multiple Cyprus related pages and am in the process of doing more. And much more is still to come El Greco (talk contribs) 01:17, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

I've also created a user box for all members {{User Wikiproject Cyprus}} to use and add to their user page. I've tagged a bunch more articles and am still working on the homepage. El Greco (talk contribs) 19:30, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
I created a second userbox {{User Wikiproject Cyprus2}} and we are up to 169 cyprus-related articles!!! El Greco (talk contribs) 19:15, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cyprus

You might be pleased to know I've worked a lot on the Cyprus article today. It now covers most topics but please can someone start referencing and condensing the history section. Thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 15:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Portal:Cyprus

I've started Portal:Cyprus some assistance in the rest of the areas would help. --Vonones 20:08, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Television in Cyprus

K, so here's something that I think you might be interested in. I'm not a member of this WikiProject, but (using a university IP address) I posted on the talk pages of the Bayrak and the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation articles that I want to do a transmitter list for both companies (including for the Television in Cyprus article) in a matter similar to that of the AFN and ARD articles. I have a list from my 2007 edition of the WRTH, yet I need the locations of the transmitter sites. Would you guys mind helping me on this?

The transmitter sites are:

For CyBC

  • Mount Olympus (listed both for FM radio and TV)
  • Athalassa (listed for TV)
  • Tsadha (listed for FM and TV)
  • Paralimni (listed for FM and TV)
  • Zygi (listed for shortwave)

For Bayrak

  • Kantara (listed for domestic radio, which is via FM)
  • Sevilitepe (listed for domestic radio and television)
  • Sinandagi (listed for television)
  • (Yeni) Iskele (listed for shortwave)

NB: My apologies for the Turkish tranmitter sites - apparently WRTH does not make any concessions to Turkish orthography.

Thanks! --Daniel Blanchette (talk) 16:09, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Draft Guidelines for Lists of companies by country - Feedback Requested

Within WikiProject Companies I am trying to establish guidelines for all Lists of companies by country, the implementation of which would hopefully ensure a minimum quality standard and level of consistency across all of these related but currently disparate articles. The ultimate goal is the improvement of these articles to Featured List status. As a WikiProject that currently has one of these lists within your scope, I would really appreciate your feedback! You can find the draft guidelines here. Thanks for your help as we look to build consensus and improve Wikipedia! - Richc80 (talk) 21:17, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Help with Cyprus cities/towns/villages and their disambiguation.

Greetings! There is a proposal to organize a bot in order to create thousands upon thousands (if not eventually -- a million) articles related to villages/towns/cities from around the world. Cyprus is also a part of this and there is a list of places from Cyprus found here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Places/cyprus. Currently however, before the project can begin, the list of places need to be checked for disambiguation. That is, there are some blue links already created and they need to be checked to ensure that they are in fact already the created cityand not a disambiguation page. This is needed as the bot will not be able to create the place if there is already a blue link and if its a disambiguation page, then that place (be it a city, village or town) will miss out. That is why I ask anyone here from this project who has some time or knowledge of Cyprus to have a look and help if they want in any way they can. As a side note, there is also a discussion going on here at the village pump: Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)/FritzpollBot and you are more than welcome to state your views on it. There is also a FAQ that you may have a look at User:FritzpollBot/FAQ but if you have any question do get in contact with Fritzpoll here User talk:Fritzpoll or with Biofield here User talk:Blofeld of SPECTRE. Kind regards. Calaka (talk) 05:02, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
