Wikipedia:WikiProject UK Waterways
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome to the Waterways of the United Kingdom WikiProject.
- Goals
- Scope
- The project covers all articles about canals, navigable rivers and related features (locks, reservoirs, bridges, aqueducts, boats, people, etc.) located in the United Kingdom.
- To add coordinates and microformats as appropriate
Contents |
[edit] Members
- Andy Mabbett - Founder. Interested in Birmingham/ Black Country canals, and the application of coordinates using the Geo and hCard microformats.
- Lynbarn - Founding member. Interested in, rather than expert in waterways, but keen to learn! Also doing some work with the stripmap templates for rail and waterways.
- Adambro - Founding member.
- Martin Cordon - Founding member. Originator of articles on Butterley and Norwood Canal Tunnels and Worsley Navigable Levels. Mainly interested in canal tunnels and the canals in my area. These are the Erewash, Cromford, Derby, Nottingham and Nutbrook Canals.
- Erebus555 - Founding member.
- EdJogg - Founding member and Wikignome. Interested in restoration in general, and local (southern) canals in particular: Wey & Arun, Basingstoke, Kennet & Avon, Wilts & Berks, Grand Union, etc (missing article: Slough Arm).
- DDStretch Canal-related matters in Cheshire and contact for Cheshire Project.
- Simply south - some general stuff
- Parrot of Doom - Based in Urmston, I grew up near the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal and have an active interest in canals around my area.
- Geni abandoned canals and canals under restoration mostly.
- Pyrotec canals around Birmingham / Black Country, plus a few others, such as the Glasgow, Paisley and Johnstone Canal.
- Smurrayinchester - interested in boat lifts/locks etc. and technical stuff (esp. templates)
- Oosoom - currently interested in local history of Birmingham and reviving an old interest in canals. As well as having lat/long locations I am very concerned that UK articles should have OS grid references as well since that is all you get on a UK map (same applies to other countries with their own grids). Oh, and I take photos when I can.
- L.J.Skinner interested in Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation and the Grand Union Canal, particularly around Tring, Pitstone, Aylesbury, Marsworth etc.
- BeeTea as a Canadian who has never set foot in the UK, I cannot help much with individual articles, but I am mightily interested in the templates for this and for WP:TRAIL as well because I want to see them ready for roll-out in application to Canadian railways, canals and trails.
- Catwhoorg an expat right now, but with a lot of background in the UK waterways, deeper knowledge of the Northern network than the other regions.
- Dave Mayall Narrowboat Mr Jinks, moored on the Peak Forest Canal, interested in expanding articles in the local area, and in improving image and map content.
- Bob Evens interested in minor canals of Wales, Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation, Chesterfield Canal. Currently researching River Don Navigation.
- Derek Andrews expat now in Canada, formerly restoration volunteer and boater (c1973-c1985), interested in anything canal related, but especially the built heritage.
- hmallett - Interested in waterways, and not entirely au fait on Wikipedia but keen to learn! Contributed to Montgomery Canal, Ellesmere Canal and Llangollen Canal.
- Grunners - Interested in canals primarily, but the navigable inland waterway network as a whole. Have made many contributions to Canals of Great Britain and articles linked to from there.
- Renata - Back again after a long absence. Moved from Derbyshire to Edinburgh last Sept. Interests: active canal boater (mainly Union Canal); history etc. of Scottish and other UK canals; UK rivers/waterways; Edinburgh and the Lothians; and more.
