Welcome to the Maritime Trades WikiProject, a collaboration area and group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of Maritime Trades.
GETTING STARTED

Joining the group is easy. First add your name to the member list. Second put a watch on the discussion page. Then start exploring. The toolbars above and to the right are a good way to explore the project.

Goals
  • Improve Wikipedia's coverage of issues dealing with maritime trades, specifically:
Scope
  • We can overlap with other projects, but should not engulf them.
  • Do jump in on deck, engineering and steward related articles.
  • Do jump in on maritime history and labor articles.
  • If you think it should be a Maritime Trades article, it probably should be.

  • Helmsman -- This is not a new article. However, I have expanded the content enough to get rid of the stub category.
Google's 1st hit Fishdecoy (talk) 19:33, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Does anyone have ideas for further content? I was wondering about a subhead: "Special challenges" with a few listings featuring several-sentence descriptions of selected steering challenges: rivers, canals, unrep, ice leads, etc.

Meanwhile, it sure would be nice to find a pic of a woman at the helm to add more variety to our content. The pic I really would like is a view over the shoulder of the helmsman showing ship traffic ahead! Fishdecoy (talk)
