It seems to me that any history page on Weathersfield should include mention of William Jarvis, former U.S. Consul to Portugal and the first importer of Merino sheep to the United States (per the historic marker in Rt. 5 in Weathersfield Bow).[1]MarmadukePercy (talk) 01:27, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

You are correct. Nyttend appears to not want the name included because Jarvis doesn't have a WP entry. I'd suggest creating one (with good references, and I'll help if you need me to) to appease the deletionist attitude in regards to adding his name. Weathersfield is quite small and it appears the town feels the man is very notable, so there is no reason why WP should think otherwise, epsecially considering his contribution to the sheep industry and being a consul. Create an article and prove notability, and I'd be unhappy if it weren't listed. I'd appreciate it if you didn't write negatively toward me: the header is for notable people, and as is there's nothing proved. Anyway, it doesn't help to link to a disambiguation page. I have added to the history on William Jarvis and have fleshed out the entries on John Dudley and his son as well. I will write a separate in-depth piece on Jarvis, whose role in Vermont history has been noted by many historians.MarmadukePercy (talk) 17:30, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

No, I haven't yet written it. I have been working on other entries but I will get around to it shortly. He should probably be designated as something along the lines of William Jarvis (Diplomat, Agriculturalist) or something along that line. The Vermont Historical Society library, which holds the William Jarvis papers, describes him thusly: "William Jarvis Papers is a collection of business records, 1793-1845, kept by Jarvis as U. S. Consul to Portugal, international trader, and Vermont farmer."
