Volkswagen New Small Family

Volkswagen's New Small Family will be a range of City Cars released around 2010 based on the Volkswagen up! concepts.

The range will consist of a short wheelbased 3 door hatchback and long wheelbase 5 door hatchback.

A sedan, convertible and crossover versions have also been rumoured.

Powertrain will be through petrol engine with a rumoured fuel consumption of 3.5L per 100km and a diesel engine with a fuel consumption of 3.0L or under per 100km.

A hybrid version is also earmarked for production range.

The cars are said to be built in the Czech Republic in the Skoda Vrchlabi plant at a production rate of 100,000 per year, spilt between three Volkswagen Group marques Volkswagen, SEAT and Skoda.

Also future VW plants in Kaluga, Russia and Pune, India may add an additional 262,000 units of the New Small Family to those respected markets.

The New Small Family is expect to have a 9 year lifespan as VW wants to build 4.5 Million in the NSFs lifetime.
