The Vietnamese Wikipedia (Vietnamese: Wikipedia tiếng Việt) is the Vietnamese language edition of Wikipedia, a free and publicly editable online encyclopedia. The wiki initially went online in November 2002, but did not begin to receive significant contributions until being "restarted" in October 2003. As of February 4, 2008, it has more than 30,000 articles, 432 of which were created by bots.[1] The project is fairly unusual among Wikipedia's major language editions for having significantly more registered users than articles.
The Vietnamese Wikipedia uses AVIM, a JavaScript-based input method that allows the user to type accented Vietnamese text in popular input methods, such as VIQR and Telex. The preferred input system can be selected using a box under the sidebar.[2]
One of the Vietnamese Wikipedia's competitors is the Encyclopedia of Vietnam (Bách khoa toàn thư Việt Nam), also available online.
