Ahem, been dipping into the makkeoli, have we? I was relieved to find I didn't cause any trouble last night... I tend to toss four-letter words around like a madman, make friends with enemies and enemies of friends when inebriated. Could have been pretty ugly... Dekkappai (talk) 21:22, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes, see this for what can happen when you edit after having a few beers. :) I know exactly what you mean, though - one of my grandfathers was a WWII paratrooper and fed me a straight diet of anti-Japanese propaganda when I was growing up. (After his old TV quit working, my Dad and I pried the Sony logo off the the new one we bought him and glued a Curtis Mathis logo on there instead). When I actually lived in Japan, my wife worked for a boss who had been a Japanese Imperial Marine during The War - one night we went to a party at his house with him and his war buddies (I was the only gaijin and 40 years younger than everyone else) and I started drinking sake with them. By the end of the night (or at least until the point where my memory-forming processes failed under the influence of the alcohol), I was happily singing "Mack the Knife" karaoke with them and thinking they were the greatest bunch of guys ever. :) Videmus Omnia Talk 21:48, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Nice. I wonder if Durova can be persuaded to include "former vandals" in User:Durova/Triple crown winner's circle#Valiant return triple crown winners? :-) Carcharoth (talk) 13:46, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Curtis Vodka

Well, everything on his page was all true, but I don't stay logged in very often since I don't usually edit pages. I tried to get him to send you guys information to confirm it was true or at least post something on his site to confirm it, but he was on tour and had no access to a computer for most of the time. I don't know whether I'm supposed to never add it again or not, cuz Wikipedia can be a little bit of hardarses when it comes to this sort of thing, and I don't want to get banned, when most articles I run across need grammatical fixing, which is what I excel at. Any advice now that it's been "speedily deleted"? - Somarinoa (talk) 03:17, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Argentine actors

Hi hope you had a good one. That license is only for film images though isn't? Cinenacional uses photographs of actors in their bio pages which aren't from film but are normal photographs outside of the "work of art". As photographs doesn't the standard twenty year copywright expiration apply? If so then we could upload many images ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 21:46, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

The image was a photograph that I did. I own it and would like to see it not tampered with or deleted.

Thank you.

[edit] Quick request

Hi, I thought I would ask you first, since you're very good at getting Flickr users to licence their work under a CC licence suitable for Wikipedia and Commons, and you might have dealt with this Flickr user before. The chap in this photo is a British radio DJ who has sadly passed away and this is the only photo I can find on Flickr, sadly not under a CC licence - [1]. I'm just wondering, have you dealt with the user before (I know, a long shot given how huge Flickr is) and if not, what's your recommendation to get the user to relicence under a CC licence ? Cheers. Nick (talk) 02:12, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Nick - I'm afraid I haven't dealt with this Flickr user before - my standard form letter for Flickr photogs is at U:RFC. If you don't have a Flickr account already and would like me to make the request for you, let me know and I'll be happy to, it only takes a couple of minutes. Videmus Omnia Talk 02:17, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi, I've an account on Flickr and I used one of your templates as the basis for the message I left. Your U:RFC page is very helpful, I'll be bookmarking that. Thanks for your help. Nick (talk) 02:27, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Insignia

After Midnight asked me today about a set of insignia logos you had tagged for speedy deletion. I know that the issue has come up before about images of eastern European military insignia, and that people argued about it, but I don't remember the resolution of the discussion. — Carl (CBM · talk) 02:21, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

It must be about the images of Bosnian military insignia I tagged earlier today - this was an example. The images were seemingly taken from this page at another website (they are identical in every respect except file name). I originally tagged them as copyvio; I see that After Midnight declined those speedy nominations so I re-tagged them as "no source" on the off chance a free source can be provided. Other images taken from this site have been deleted in numerous discussions from last October - I don't remember where to find them now but this linksearch should point to a lot of the discussions. Videmus Omnia Talk 02:29, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I couldn't remember if the other ones were deleted. I thought Zscout made new versions on his own, which sidestepped the issue. — Carl (CBM · talk) 04:43, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Ah - yeah, I think he made a couple of Ukrainian rank insignia. The ones that he didn't replace were eventually deleted at WP:IFD. Nobody else followed up on making replacement insignia so far as I know. Videmus Omnia Talk 04:45, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jinxmchue

I've unblocked the IP range that I blocked earlier, and I unprotected the two talk pages he was using. Apparently, I'm the one who screwed up here, not Jinxmchue or JzG or anyone else involved. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 07:04, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. Videmus Omnia Talk 07:05, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Whatever. Go ahead and block me if the situation calls for it. Apparently, he was concerned that I wouldn't get punished for anything. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 07:09, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Um, I'm not sure what provoked that reaction but I wasn't even thinking that you should be punished. I am disappointed that it appears a volatile editor may have been provoked into making angry statements on their talk page so that they could be blocked; it's not the first time that I've seen that sort of thing. I think this would have better resolved through discussion and dispute resolution rather than blocks/protections. Videmus Omnia Talk 07:18, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Information template location parameter

In this edit http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template%3AInformation&diff=161814117&oldid=155459905, your comment was about trying to align {{Information}} with the Commons version. However you removed the Location parameter functionality that is still in use on the wikipedia side (e.g. Location is still requested in the "file upload" dialog). Could you please comment further as to reasoning on Template talk: Information#location field? Specifically, is there any reason not to restore the location parameter display here and add it to the Commons? Thanks, --J Clear (talk) 14:04, 13 January 2008 (UTC) Sorry, we weren't able to suggest any articles for you. Something is probably wrong on our end.

[edit] WASSUP???

Heya V.O. I noticed that your userpage redlined today and then that you had it deleted. Is everything okay? Just wanted to start over w/o an edit history? I hope you're not leaving Wikipedia! VigilancePrime (talk) 01:11, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Same here, what's up? — pd_THOR | =/\= | 12:17, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Not today, but a few days ago, actually. Look two subsections up for the (likely) reason. It's a real shame, VO was one of our best. :-(. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 15:42, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
And folks wonder why so many who contribute to Wikipedia do so on an anonymous basis...  :( Tabercil (talk) 04:22, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
That would do it. How ridiculous... WP:EM is similar in the reason military members especially have (and should have) no limitations on visiting Wikipedia through the day. Some public affairs types use it as a part of their use. There's a User:Oregon OSHA that is actually the government agency. I'm amazed at the severe busybodiness and brazenness of even involving oneself in another's off-Wiki affairs. It'd be like a cop reporting someone as a child abuser because they posted on a forum a question about treating a child's medical injuries. V.O., don't be discouraged. We all have been dealing with our own types of harrassment (mine has been on-Wiki, at least). I would hate to see you gone permanently. Best Wishes to you and your family regardless. VigilancePrime (talk) 08:22, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] MfD Again (You voted before)

  • The article formerly known as VP:Admin Abuse is back up for a MfD, in spite of its new title and greatly expanded sections highlighting great admins. (The MfD is believed to be a veiled personal attack.) The new page is WP:What Were They Thinking? (or simply WP:WWTT). The deletion question is here. Please visit and voice your support or, if your opinion has changed, opposition to this article. As you'll recall, it was a UNANIMOUS KEEP the first time around. Thank you for your time. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:Don't_Stop_the_Music_Single.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:Don't_Stop_the_Music_Single.PNG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:46, 1 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 02:46, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:HeadstrongAshleyTisdale.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:HeadstrongAshleyTisdale.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 19:38, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Shane Osborn Page

Hello: I have decided to make the Shane Osborn page my project for the new year. I see you have tagged it for numerous errors. I am in the process of cleaning it up and was hoping we could work together to fix it. Would you mind looking over my changes and see if we can't eliminate some of the flagged boxes? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Foxdana1000 (talkcontribs) 20:55, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
