Vernian Process is a musical project formed in San Francisco in 2003 by Joshua Pfeiffer. The project has featured guest contributions from Pasha Smith, and Malcolm Schreeck of the Victorian Synthpunk band 'Unextraordinary Gentlemen'.

Taking its name from the works of 19th century author Jules Verne, Vernian Process is a Darkwave band that creates music themed around victorian scientific romance, and its 20th century equivalent steampunk.
In addition to releasing his own material, Joshua has also provided remixes of Nouvelle Vague's "Bela Lugosi's Dead" (from Bande à Part), Abney Park's "The Wrong Side" (from The Death Of Tragedy)[1] , and Unextraordinary Gentlemen's "Open Arms, Empty Air", (from "5 Tales From God Only Knows").
Vernian Process has also appeared at events performing with Attrition at the DNA Lounge (2006) [2] and Convergence 13 (2007), [3] alongside other notable artists such as, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, and Faith and the Muse. Vernian Process will be performing at the Ravenwood and Eccentrik Music Festivals in 2008.
As of 2008, Vernian Process has been working on the soundtrack for the steampunk themed videogame; "Shades of Violet: The incredible Adventures of Violet Vendetta" for Fly Games Studio.[4]
