Wikipedia talk:User page/Temporary userpage template

Why are userpages of indefinitely blocked users deleted on the English Wikipedia? Vints (talk) 08:29, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Clarify purpose?
Is the purpose of this template for tagging inactive userpages as the language in it suggests or for tagging userpages pending blocking as indicated by the Cat it feeds? This template needs instructions.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 03:19, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's used temporarily with indefinitely blocked users who maliciously recreate their talk pages. It's essentially equivalent to {{indefblocked}}, but without the large warning box that some attention-seeking vandals seem to seek. No pages for unblocked users should be in that category, pending block or otherwise.
- You can tag your own user pages for deletion using {{db-user}}, or other users' pages through Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion. —{admin} Pathoschild 06:26:49, 02 March 2008 (UTC)

- The problem as I've noted at WP:AN and WP:CSD is that this tag doesn't say that it's only for indef blocked users and some editors use it as a sort of Prod for user talk pages. I believe some admins are deleting these pages without checking to see if the users are actually indef blocked on the assumption that this is the only way they get to CAT:TEMP, do we reallly need this tag in addition to all of the indef blocked tags?--Doug.(talk • contribs) 21:34, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

- It's not strictly necessary. It's helpful for the purpose I explained above, but if it's being misused we should reword or delete it. —{admin} Pathoschild 21:49:21, 06 April 2008 (UTC)

- So, just to clarify: It's just for user talk pages, and just for talk pages of indef blocked users? - jc37 15:45, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

- It's for all user pages belonging to indefinitely blocked users, although a later edit changed the wording. See the original wording. —{admin} Pathoschild 04:26:01, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
