University of Waterloo Faculty of Environmental Studies

The Faculty of Environmental Studies is one of six faculties at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
One of Canada’s leading centres for environmental research and teaching, the Faculty offers undergraduate and graduate programs in:
- Environment and Business
- Environment and Resource Studies
- Geography, Geography and Aviation
- Geomatics
- International Development
- Knowledge Integration
- Planning (urban planning)
- Local Economic Development
- Tourism Policy and Planning
Currently home to 1,100 undergraduate students, 200 graduate students, and 50 faculty members, the Faculty is growing in both undergraduate and graduate enrollment.
Co-op education, whereby students alternate 4 months in school with 4 month paid work terms in jobs relating to their program, is a major feature of the Faculty. Co-op students can earn up to $45,000 through their work terms and graduate with nearly 2 years of paid work experience.

The Faculty of Environmental Studies consists of: Department of Environment and Resource Studies, Department of Geography and Environmental Management, the School of Planning, the Centre for Environment and Business and the Centre for Knowledge Integration.

The Faculty's research centres and groups include: Adaptation and Impacts Research Group, Canadian Cryospheric System (CRYSYS), Ecological Restoration Group, Ecoplan China, Heritage Resources Centre, Mid-size City Research Centre, Parks Research Forum of Ontario (PRFO), Residential Energy Efficiency Project (REEP), State of the Canadian Cryosphere, Sustainable Energy Research, Transportation Research Group (TRG), and Waterloo Laboratory for Earth Observations (WatLEO).
