Truett-McConnell College

Truett-McConnell College is a private, Christian, coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences, operated under the auspices of the Georgia Baptist Convention, and controlled by a Board of Trustees elected by the Convention. The college was named to honor George W. Truett and Fernando C. McConnell. It is located in Cleveland, Georgia, United States.

The college's mission statement: "The mission of Truett-McConnell College is to equip students to make a positive impact for Christ through disciplined scholarship and Christian discipleship."
After more than half a century as a two-year college, in December 2002 the institution was approved by its accrediting agency (the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) to offer four-year degrees. The first two bachelor’s degree programs were initiated in the fall of 2003: a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in church music. In December 2005, the college was approved to begin two additional bachelor's degree programs: a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in early childhood education. A Bachelor of Arts in Humanities was approved in March 2006.
Truett-McConnell College is located in Cleveland, Georgia. Cleveland is the county seat of White County and located at the southern edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Nearby are the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River and Lake Sidney Lanier. Gainesville, Georgia is 25 miles to the south, and Atlanta is 70 miles to the southwest.
