haha, well maybe. it's late at night here and i wanted a quick article to get me back into wikipedia. I should be thinking properly tomorrow. :-) tb

About the photo of "Polish" scalpel: it's a Wikipedia - so that photo is Public Domain and You don't have to ask for using it on antoher open suorce project (like English Wikipedia). You don't have to make a link there saying where it came from. The translation of the sentence below the photo (You can change it): The surgical blade with the handle. Sorry for my English - if I've written sth bad I wasn't going to do it. Greetings from Czestochowa. --Reytan 11:03, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)~

Hey, nice work on Joey Scarbury. Funny that William Katt, space aliens, Robert Culp, and Connie Selleca didnt get stubs, and Joey Scarbury does. My faith in humanity is restored. -SV(talk) 01:52, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Thanks, i just dow... bought the single before i wrote that, and thought he could use an article. Dunno about the baseball playing thing though, i read that on one internet site and haven't confirmed it. T 02:01, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)

I wondered whether you might prefer to add your own extra description to the Dunedin panorama, but I see your blue list is still shorter than your red list so you have plenty of other chores! Surprising that WP doesn't have bruise, bruises, or bruising pages when it has less painful things like scar; it also has itch, but that's an album at present!! 8-D :Robin Patterson 01:18, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Briefly noted your OTHER talk page and got an interesting response
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:202.180.83.7

I've had that list for a very long time :-) I plan to move it to Requested Articles when it's a bit shorter. It's a pure coincidence I actually saw your Dunedin comment on the recent changes. I don't have the pics on my watchlist or anything, and i'd just connected to check my email. I'm sure you're geography of the city is better than mine, I only know the shops and pubs! Thanks for profiling it on Zeal. T 03:10, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hi TristanB, my compliments on your work on automated analyser. I'm trying to bring some improvement to the medical articles on Wikipedia, especially now the Wikiprojects are pretty defunct. Are you a doctor? At any rate, all medically inclined are invited to join the WikiDoc effort. JFW | T@lk 13:40, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for your compliments on the page, it was a bit of a rushed effort, I was trying to make some pages that my friend Idl could help with. I think i'd write the page a bit differently now.
I don't like giving too much about my life away here, but i'm actually a medical student. I've also worked in a hospital laboratory in microbiology, core haem (i.e. non-specialised), and core and spec biochem. I currently work part-time (after class) in the haem dept. in a community lab.
I'll have a look at the WikiDoc page, and I'll put my ~~~ down if it appeals, thanks JFW. T 22:51, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hi Tristanb. It would be great to have you participate there. You have done an enormous amount of work on medicine articles, and your experience and knowledge would help a lot in getting things organised some more. I am afraid medicine is one of the most underdeveloped fields that Wikipedia has (compare with pop culture - shudder...) and your help would certainly be appreciated. Best, Kosebamse 12:36, 23 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Thanks Kosebamse, I do intend to participate. I just never got round to putting my name down! :-D But i'll join as soon as I have some free time. (should be soon) Thanks again, T 22:25, 24 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Please consider joining the Wikidocs Wikipedia:WikiProject Clinical medicine Kd4ttc 03:30, 22 May 2004 (UTC)

My name's already in the list! :-D But i'm sort of working independently at the moment.
I'm currently writing more about cranial nerves, adding sections nuclei and testing to a few of them (often not logged in). I've probably done enough of that now though. Will possibly contribute more brain stuff, and maybe a bit of endocrine or reproduction/development topics. T 00:56, 30 May 2004 (UTC)

[edit] MAHA

Hi Tristan, we haven't come accross each other's edits for quite a while! I was just wondering if microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (i.e. bite cells/schistocytes) are picked up automatically by automated analysers. Do you remember getting flagged blood films because of this??
Good work on writing about all those muscles. Wikipedia is anatomically grossly underdeveloped. JFW | T@lk 16:57, 12 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Hi JFW, I've been taking a break from wikipedia for a while (it's been a busy past few weeks). In answer to your question, the Sysmex XE-2100 (and no doubt others) has a flag: RBC fragments. This is important because (I think) they can be mistaken for platelets with some automated techniques.
Where I work, we make a film on everything with this flag, and a technologist will look for funny-looking cells (and describe them properly). Also, if a reticulocyte count is added, (done on the same machine) it'll report a more accurate (optical) platelet count.
Hopefully I'll start writing here again a bit more frequently. I've been wasting my computer time with my own wiki and other projects. :-) Tristanb

[edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. [edit] Image tag

Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:

I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status?

You can use gfdl if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, fairuse if you claim fair use, and so on. Click here for a list of the various tags.

If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the image from, and I'll tag it for you. Thanks so much. Denni 04:23, 2004 Dec 13 (UTC)

P.S. You can help tag other images at Wikipedia:Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

Also, Image:Mounttaranaki small.jpg. You said it was taken by a friend, does he agree to license it under the gfdl or release it into public domain? Aqua 02:16, Dec 25, 2004 (UTC)

Hi, I just uploaded your picture of Dunedin to the commons (Image:Dunedin Panorama.jpg), so we can use it in german wikipedia, too. I'm not familiar with how you handle it here with the old one, would be nice, if you could delete/mark/whatever it if necessary. Thanks --62.226.180.116 13:19, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Some Otago stubs

Hi Tristanb - I notice you've done some editing on the Balclutha and Raes Junction articles; I've just added some basic stubs for Beaumont, New Zealand, Ettrick, New Zealand, and Millers Flat, New Zealand - if you can expand them in any way it's be good... :) Cheers from an ex-Miltonian in Dunedin, Grutness...wha? 10:23, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Pond.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Pond.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 07:08, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair-use image removed from your gallery

Hello, Tristanb. I've removed Image:Tnzs screenshot.png from your image gallery and replaced it with a link to the image, as it is a copyrighted image that is being used under a claim of fair use. Unfortunately, by Wikipedia policies, no fair-use images can be used on user pages; please see Wikipedia:Removal of fair use images. If you have any questions, please let me know. —Bkell (talk) 03:40, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Yep, that's fine that you've removed that image from my gallery page.
At first read, i thought you'd taken it from the actual article (in which it is being used fairly). If you're on a spree, you may want to more explicitly state that it is User pages that don't allow fair use, and that you're only removing from User pages. - Tristanb 04:01, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
I thought I did explicitly state that… how would you word what I wrote? I'm not exactly on a spree, but I've been handling a few free-use images each day in this manner for the past few days. —Bkell (talk) 04:46, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I should have used a smiley face in my message, it does seem quite accusatory, I didn't intend to be rude. :-D
I just meant maybe explicitly saying that the image will not be removed from any article, but just from the user page. Hearing that an image you've made is about to be deleted can be upsetting, and it can be easy to jump to conclusions without reading the rest of your comment more carefully.
Didn't mean the word "spree" in a negative sense. I just thought if you were copying and pasting the comment to lots of people, you could maybe add that clarification.
But yeah, keep up good work. Tristanb 02:38, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Haha, no offense taken at all. "Spree" is a very good word to use to describe my editing at times. I believe I've used the word "rampage" myself… ;-)
Since it's possible that I might be leaving a similar message on many talk pages, I made a template I can subst. It's my first attempt at making a template that can act in a few different ways depending on how it's called, and it's pretty ugly, but hopefully it should make it easier for me to leave a nice descriptive message about what's going on. Of course, you're welcome to play with the wording if you like. —Bkell (talk) 05:49, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Xe2100screenshotlarge.png

Hello Tristanb, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Xe2100screenshotlarge.png) was found at the following location: User:Tristanb/Gallery. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 08:11, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] notability

A tag has been placed on Tamagotchi Town, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because it is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on Talk:Tamagotchi Town. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Thanks. ··coelacan 19:40, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Well at least you contacted the creator of the page, even if you just stamped a template onto my talk page. I've added references. You should try not to seek out stuff to delete. If it's not important, no-one will go to that page, and no-one will see it. Tristanb 22:09, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Tamatown.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Tamatown.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aksibot 13:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Newworldsupermarket.jpg

Thank you for uploading images/media such as Image:Newworldsupermarket.jpg to Wikipedia! There is however another Wikimedia foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading media there instead. That way, all the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons. Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!

[edit] Hey there

The Original Barnstar
I was going through some article's early histories and was surprised at how often your name popped up. Here's for sticking around and, most of all, keeping your work excellent! Best wishes, Fvasconcellos (t·c) 01:17, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks Wikidudeman and Fvasconcellos. I don't mind helping now and then.

[edit] Biomedical model

A prod template has been added to the article Biomedical model, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with db-author. meco 14:46, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

For fuck's sake you deletionist pricks. THIS ARTICLE HAS EXISTED FOR A LONG TIME, AND A NUMBER OF ARTICLES LINK TO IT. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO JUSTIFY ITS EXISTENCE!
WHAT SORT OF LOSER GOES AROUND FINDING ARTICLES TO DELETE? FUCK YOU! Tristanb 07:27, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Tamatown.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Tamatown.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:05, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
