Hello
I'll be back from break shortly and am keen to progress NCFC. Hope you're well. --Dweller 08:30, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hey dude, good to hear from you again. It's my birthday today so I'm very well, thanks for asking! Still at work mind you, but looking forward to celebrating a bit tonight. When you're ready for another NCFC drive, let me know... The Rambling Man 11:11, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- Gearing up for it. How about tomorrow? Where are we up to? --Dweller 12:52, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, tomorrow is good. I think we had a way to go on tidying up the smaller sections, ownership, crest, colours etc, and some decisions needed to be made over the managers section, whether to keep 'em all. Also, I was hoping you'd cut the history down a bit more... and there's a peer review for it too... The Rambling Man 12:54, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Happy Birthday!

This is the person who edited DosKey, yes i know i shouldn't have edited DosKey it's just that i wanted to add myself to wikipedia (Since i have been so many times). I will only give an apoligy if you tell me where you got the lies saying that i edited the sunderland wikipedia site. I am very intriged about why you said that because, because i want to know the facts. ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.39.172.220 (talk • contribs)

Coincidence
Hey, just a quick message to let you know we have a new user who goes by the name of Chairbhoy (talk · contribs). It may be pure coincidence, but I had a doppleganger a while ago and it was... well... troubling... The Rambling Man 13:54, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

York City external links
Hey, thanks for reviewing the York City article, I've been working on some of your recommendations. I was wandering if you could give me a hand with the trimming down of the External links section; I'm not totally sure on it. I would have thought most of the Supporters' organisations links could be done without, and probably the Minstermen site. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks. - <Lloyd Grossman voice> Hmmm... let's look at the evidence. He's spending lots of time at XfD, he's signed up for admin coaching, he's had an editor review and is modifying his behaviour according to comments received, and he's discussing decisions about blocks and protection with experienced admins. What can it mean? David, it's oooooover to you. --Dweller 12:00, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Typical! Well let me know if there's anything I can do to help en route... The Rambling Man 12:01, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Football records in Italy
It looks like an interesting page, but where are the references to verify all those dates and numbers? - Mgm|(talk) 11:50, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree - these figures have all been extracted from a number of other Wikipedia pages, and I'm just about to add the references they use. Hope that helps. The Rambling Man 11:53, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Table of contents
Thanks for helping at User:The Transhumanist/Virtual classroom/Dweller, on Featured Article Candidates. It's gonna be a cracker. I want to move the table of contents to below the introduction. Any idea how I do that? --Dweller 15:34, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

AS Roma players
Hi Rambling!
Some months ago I wrote something about Giacomo Losi, but for other less known players there is a lack of informations, but I think I can find something and create other articles... why are you interested in AS Roma players? Maybe because you are still amazed after the great performance they offered against Man Utd? ;) Ciao Gaúcho 16:13, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my user page.
I don't think I got round to congratulating you when Ipswich Town got promoted to FA, so a belated congratulations. Oldelpaso 17:04, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Not a problem, and thanks for the belated congrats. Thank you for making so much effort to review the articles Dweller and I put up for FA and for offering so much good advice! Cheers The Rambling Man 17:16, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

When The Transhumanist is next around, I plan to ask him to co-nom you for adminship. Are you ready to run the gauntlet again? The Project would benefit greatly if you had a mop. --Dweller 19:35, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'll run the gauntlet anytime. Is it incestuous to offer the same in reverse, in other words, if you think you're ready (when The Transhumanist gives you a thumbs up), can I offer my nom/co-nom? The Rambling Man 22:01, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

LFC

Graphs
Hiya
Further to your comment on the GFC peer review page, would you be able to advise me on how to make the graph you refer to? I know how to make a graph in Excel but can't find a way to add the coloured "bands" representing the different divisions. Any help you can offer would truly be much appreciated :-) ChrisTheDude 07:50, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, yeah, I was just reading through your responses to the comments I made on the peer review. Well, for ITFC I didn't bother with the coloured bands, I found them a bit over the top. Instead I just had coloured lines to indicate the division boundaries - check it out: Image:ITFC record.png. The Rambling Man 08:03, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Cheers - gives me something to work on at lunchtime! :-) ChrisTheDude 08:11, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- No worries..! The Rambling Man 08:12, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Graph now added to the GFC article, thanks for your assistance!!!!! ChrisTheDude 11:20, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Cheers for the "p"s :-) I went in to do it, typed them all in, then when I hit save I got an edit conflict message, and it was you doing the same thing! I'm going to put the article up for FA but I think I'll wait till next week as I'm very busy between now and then and want to make sure it only goes up when I have plenty of spare time to address issues people might raise in the debate. Many thanks once again for your assistance!

- Yeah, at work I have two Norwich fans who work for me, one closet, one regular Carrow Roader. Our discussions are rough, but not quite that stupid. I read today that you're clean out of fit players and have resorted to under-12s or something?! The Rambling Man 12:01, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yup. I created stub articles the other day for 2 youth players who were subs the other night v Burnley (1 actually got on the field). Another (Kris Renton) started. --Dweller 14:19, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Right, sir, I have my book to hand. What needs sourcing? --Dweller 07:51, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, well let's see:
- The building on the crest.
- No joy. :-(
- Not good enough! I'm surprised really... surely someone somewhere knows this?
- No joy. :-(
- Origin of canaries
- Done
- Carrow Road terrace roof
- Done
- Fans singing only the chorus to "On the Ball, City"
- Looking... how about ([2]) Not sure it's a RS?
- I'm not sure it's an RS either, but I would suggest adding it in as a reference and see if anyone gets too upset about it at the FA nom?
- Looking... how about ([2]) Not sure it's a RS?
- "Pride of Anglia" title
- Done
- The building on the crest.
- That's about it... The Rambling Man 08:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Rothschild Giraffe
You're a genius. Thanks for the citations - this is my first article and I wasn't sure how to go about it.
I have found this http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1288611 which states that 40 are believed to exist in the wild. Would this do?
Thanks again.

My RfA
Hi The Rambling Man/Archive 14 and thank you for your support on my recent request for adminship. Unfortunately, the request failed, however I aim to improve the concerns that were brought up and hopefully bring myself up to the standards of admin. Once again, I thank you for your support. --KzTalk• Contribs 12:20, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
More homework for you!
I've asked for peer reviews from a couple of editors and a couple of WikiProjects. In return (!) could you sort out the broken ref in NCFC (48 or 49) and properly ref the sources in "Supporters"? Ta! --Dweller 14:36, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Done, I think, if you'd care to check! Plus I think I've found some more on Serie A (from a book in Waterstones, as predicted...) The Rambling Man 15:19, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Rothschild Giraffe - again!
Hi Rambling Man,
I have a reliable source for the number of Rothschilds left in the wild - http://www.woburnsafari.co.uk/education/animal_facts/rothschilds_giraffe.php
This is Woburn Safari Park and rates the numbers at 40.
I this is cited, does it mean the article will be considered for did you know? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Deanmurley (talk • contribs).
- Bingo. That's great, I've added the citation for you. It will most certainly be considered for DYK, but we'll have to keep an eye on it in case someone has any further comments to improve the article so that it can be linked to from the Main Page. All the best. The Rambling Man 15:35, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Giraffe Centre
Do you know why the Rothschild Giraffe article doesn't link to The Giraffe Centre and vice-versa?
Thanks.

FL
Hi. I've supported. Have you had the pix checked for licensing issues? --Dweller 08:53, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks. No, but one was released under GFDL, the other is public domain (copyright expired). Turns out that the GFDL one now has some Italian warning templates added to it (presumably since it made the DYK overnight Friday/Saturday it picked up some more interest) - I guess they're disputing the GFDL attribution but I'm not sure... I may have to ditch the Torino Grande one... not sure. The Rambling Man 08:57, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- There is another Grande Torino image at Commons, in black & white, but it will probably suffer the same fate... The Rambling Man 09:01, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Little question
Hey, just got a little question to ask here. Would you recommend I place the list of York managers into the main article instead of having a seperate article for it? Thanks, Mattythewhite 10:07, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've given my support to Italian football champions; nice work there. Not yet given Norwich City much of a look at yet. Also, I think I'm nearly ready for York City FAC. Do you think theres anything in particular that needs improving on it still? Thanks, Mattythewhite 19:11, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Norwich City F.C.
I think I have the final pieces of the jigsaw before we go to FAC. I'll start adding them asap. --Dweller 12:36, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Good news. Anything I can do, give me a shout ASAP. The Rambling Man 12:51, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK. I've done 'em. If you can possibly help with the citewebs, I'll take a look at the formatting of "Colours and crest". It would be easiest to put this into bullets, but I think flowing prose is most FA-worthy. Are we then all done? --Dweller 13:09, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think we're nearly done, but the link to the club shop for away shirts doesn't work. I can't extract a useful URL from it either so I haven't converted it to a citeweb yet. Can you find an alternative citation for this? The Rambling Man 13:35, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

was/were
Of the five changes here ([3]) I disagree with 1, 3, 4 and 5. In English English, it's normal to use the singular for "the club" and plural for "Norwich City". --Dweller 15:30, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Fine by me. I was trying to interpret what Oldelpaso had said. It felt strange saying the "The club were relegated" but not that strange. "The club was relegated", "The club were relegated"... ITFC edits
Hi. There's been a bunch of stuff at ITFC. Some of it's vandalism, but some good faith. I've not got enough knowledge to be able to sort out the wheat and chaff. --Dweller 09:35, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
NCFC
How about one of your splendid graphs, old boy? Oh, and I've asked the photo guru to check the pix at the article. --Dweller 09:44, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- For ze graph I need ze league finishes for every season... got that info anywhere handy in an Excel-able format? The Rambling Man 11:57, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Is this a start, ([4])? Almost up to date. --Dweller 12:01, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I got there in the end, that link wasn't the proper url (a bit like that pesky link to the NCFC shop) but I found the results. Now all I need is the number of teams in each division for each season (I've lost that since last time... typical) - the ITFC list of finishes I had was actually from 1 (when we won the proper first division!) to 92 (not that we got that low down) so it was easy, this list is of finishes in each division... The Rambling Man 12:40, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think that this ([5]) will help. If you've not met Mr Wray and his amazing Excel sheets before, be prepared to be amazed (He's a Brighton fan, btw) --Dweller 12:45, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well that was certainly interesting but I couldn't find where it gave me the division sizes for all divisions from 1930-odd to today... The Rambling Man 13:03, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- I thought there's a similar graph in it. Meanwhile, I'll keep looking. --Dweller 13:06, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Aha, there may have should have been, I got a bunch of errors when I opened it, possibly one of the worksheets was corrupted which contained the very thing we're discussing... The Rambling Man 13:09, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- This ([6]) is a little better, as the summary chart clicks through to each season's league table. Btw, I'm in an edit war. Am I wrong? --Dweller 13:12, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'd noticed that. I tidied the article up a bit, but I think that citation is 50/50. I think it's the Times version of a gossip column so while it's definitely a reliable source (The Times) it might not be suitable... I'll think about it some more... Meanwhile, don't get caught up in WP:3RR! The Rambling Man 13:21, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like the consensus favours the removal of that comment. Oh well, at least it was well cited! Your link, again, is good, but I still need the total number of each clubs in each division in each season... for the horizontal lines... The Rambling Man 13:47, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

- Looks like the consensus favours the removal of that comment. Oh well, at least it was well cited! Your link, again, is good, but I still need the total number of each clubs in each division in each season... for the horizontal lines... The Rambling Man 13:47, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
York City FAC
I'm just getting ready not to get York City onto FAC. Just thought I'd let you know, and thank you for your help over the last few days. Mattythewhite 16:04, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- I certainly don't object the edits you're making! And I've got an object to the article because of the fair use rationale.. I think I've got that cleared up.. Mattythewhite 07:16, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've got all those done now! What a bloody mission that was.. :p Mattythewhite 15:57, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Oh right, so even "semi-final" for example should have an endash? And could you help me with the images... this fair-use rationale thing is boggling my mind.. Mattythewhite 16:33, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your support; I doubt I would have got this far without your help. Mattythewhite 17:26, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- The York City logo needs fair use rationale now according to Pagrashtak.. Mattythewhite 17:32, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Done! The Rambling Man 17:39, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Nominating you for adminship
- Good luck! --Dweller 15:15, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Let me know when you're happy for it to be transcluded to RfA. I'll add your edit stats to the talk page. --Dweller 16:12, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like I'm about done. To be honest, with the current heated debates over the whole RFA process, who knows what'll happen here, I reckon this'll be exciting! Update the close date and transclude away when you're ready unless you feel I'm underselling myself! Many thanks to you... The Rambling Man 16:26, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
When the RfA is up an running...
...we can consider how to reflect this ([7]) bit of near crystalballery in our FAC candidate! --Dweller 16:10, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Derry City F.C. article peer-review
I'm just letting you know that I have left a comment on the peer-review page regarding my progress with the article. Danny InvincibleTalk|Edits 05:51, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Ian Thorpe
Hi Rambling Man. Not sure if your love of sport extends to swimming, but I'm wondering if you could take a look at the Thorpe FAR in any way and see if it can be rescued, since I am about to go walkabouts for a while. Thanks, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 06:42, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll take a look at it later on today. Enjoy your walkabout...! The Rambling Man 06:46, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Your RFA
I put an optional question on your RFA that I'd really like to learn from. :) bibliomaniac15 21:03, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks

Hi TRM
My votes are for Bill O'Reilly (cricketer) and a Welsh castle - maybe Harlech Castle, as there's a good siege story. What say you? PS It's not going badly, is it? --Dweller 22:54, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- See my post at WT:CRIC. Also, do you want to update Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football/Participants? Can't believe I've never signed up. --Dweller 11:03, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Please gnome me. Me barnies are huge and look awful. If you could shrink them, so they fit widthwise in the space to the left of the userboxes, that'd be lovely. If their height shrank too, that'd be no bad thing. --Dweller 11:14, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ah. I've made progress. Much better. Now if only I can make the stars into links to my subpage... --Dweller 12:21, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

YCFC..
G'day. I was wandering if you could help me with some copyediting on the York City article, if you have any free time; Dweller says it should have some work on it from a third party. Thanks, Mattythewhite 16:39, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't have time, but, for you, I will make time....! Sure thing, I'll get on to it soon...! The Rambling Man 16:41, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
