[edit] Ederition

Ederition is the name for the strange, seemingly inexplicable force that draws us humans to waste our time on Wikipedia. While preparing to write a stellar essay, type an award-winning novel, or Google the cure for cancer, that influence called ederition takes us over and drags us to Wikipedia. At first the ederition seems harmless — we are simply drawn to a useful article, such as "cure for cancer". But soon we see a link to "oncogenomics" and wonder "What the heck is that?", only to find ourselves wondering about "pyrosequencing", and a host of other foreign ideas, until we have completely succumbed to ederition and can only look back on how the world might have had a cure for cancer, if only…

[edit] Etymology

Ederition comes from Middle English *edericioun, from Old French *edericion, from Latin *aedericiō, from Greek *aiderikiō (αιδερικιω, which coincidentally resembles Wikipedia backwards).

[edit] Other

For now, MIQ's other page is occupied by a family tree of the Munsters (random, I know):

[edit] Notes

  1. ^ This page is the original, copyrighted work of MIQ. It is based off of conjectures and research made by me, and furthermore is written from an in-universe perspective.
  2. ^ Grandpa's uncle, he was hanged. Since Vampires are killed by stakes (as referenced numerous times in the show), George was probably not one, and therefore on Grandpa's father's side (with the last name Dracula).
  3. ^ a b While both Grandpa and Lily are vampires, Grandpa is shown to have significantly more power and has many more vampirical characteristics (bloodsucking, wings, transformation, aversion to light). Likewise, Grandpa's mother seems to have had more power than him, having died on numerous occasions. On the other hand, Eddie has vampiric traits (sleeping in a coffin, widow's peak) but is never quite portrayed as a vampire. Thus it may be that with each generation the vampiric blood has been watered down by humans.
  4. ^ Lily's grandmother (Grandpa's mother) is a vampire who, unlike Grandpa and Lily, has died more than once, and may even die again.
  5. ^ Victor Frankenstein's parents were Alphonse and Caroline Beaufort Frankenstein; however, since Herman is not so much Frankenstein's son as creation, they have not been included.
  6. ^ The favorite of Grandpa's 167 wives, Grandma is mummified and kept in the Munsters' house. Grandpa's first ten wives were apparently all vampires (he claims he "dug them up").
  7. ^ Uncle Gilbert's exact relation to the family is uncertain (he makes it clear that they are blood relations), but he is not Herman, Lily, or Grandpa's brother, so the closest remaining uncle would be Grandma's brother.
  8. ^ Johann is called Herman's cousin, but exactly how a constructed monster can have a cousin is confusing.
  9. ^ When Marilyn was adopted by the Munsters as a baby, her surname was changed to "Munster".
