The Movie Channel was a predecessor of some of the Sky Movies channels, launched on BSB in 1989, survived merger with Sky in 1990, rebranded as Sky Movies Screen 2 in 1997, then Sky Moviemax in 1998, at a time when Sky wanted all its channels to have their own unique look and ident, Sky Movies Max, Sky Movies 2 and currently Sky Movies Premiere +1.
