As Maya goes into the dressing room to interview the movie's star Brady Armstrong, she is kidnapped. The player, as Nancy Drew, has to race against time to find Maya and the kidnapper before the theater is demolished in three days. This game takes place in St.Louis.

[edit] Characters

Brady Armstrong - Brady is the star of the movie Vanishing Destiny that Maya and Nancy have gone to see. It is mentioned that his real name is Brady Thompson.

Simone Mueller - Simone is Brady’s self-centered agent who is always on the phone in the woman's dressing room. When Maya disappears she decides to cancel "Vanishing Destiny" and make it look as though Brady is trying to save her.

Joseph Hughes - Joseph is the caretaker of the Royal Palladium who works in the projector room. He is very friendly.

Nicholas Falcone - Nicholas is the leader of “H.A.D I.T” or “Humans Against the Destruction of Illustrious Theaters”. They are leading a protest against demolishing The Royal Palladium. The police say they have found him faking a kidnapping before to save a theater.

Maya Nguyen - Maya is the person Nancy came with to see Vanishing Destiny before the theater will be demolished. She was scheduled to interview the star, Brady Armstrong, for her student paper before she was kidnapped in his dressing room.

Nancy Drew - Nancy is not only a detective, but also a frantic friend who is only trying to get to the bottom of a twisted plot and save a friend at the same time. She's convinced that the kidnapper is hiding Maya in the mysterious theater in a desperate attempt to halt the demolition, but no one believes her.

[edit] Trivia

  • At the end of the game, the top of the newspaper gives a reference to the next Nancy Drew game, Secret of the Scarlet Hand.
  • You can call the theater on 1-314-555-7189 from the lobby. This results in the telephone behind Nancy ringing until the call is disconnected.
  • If you call the Library Of Congress on 1-202-555-5000 before Eustachia Andropov gives you the number you receive the 'ABC Media's Audiophonic Fun Menu' which allows you to change the music track currently played to another possible 8 tracks played throughout the game.
  • The mug below the trunk in the women's dressing room has the Her Interactive logo on it.
  • Many sound effects from Message in a Haunted Mansion are used in the game. For example, the sound when the trap door is opened back stage is the same sound as the one produced when opening the attic trapdoor in Message in a Haunted Mansion.
  • The graffiti in the tunnel behind the stage says 'K Heart T' and 'The Snake Waz Here'.
  • A sign behind the stage says 'Caution. Falling Objects'. This is most likely a reference to the skylight nearly falling on Nancy at some point in the game.
  • You can knock on the dressing room doors, however this has no effect and nobody replies.
  • In Curse of Blackmoor Manor Jane has a poster of Brady Armstrong in her room. She also makes reference to him in speech numerous times.
  • If you dial 911 on the phone in the lobby you are connected to the St. Louis Police Department.
  • Dialing 'City Garbage Pick-up/Disposal' using the number above the phone results in the operator stating that 'Your call cannot be completed as dialed'.
  • Dialing 'ABC Media Services' using the number pinned to the wall above the phone results in the phone continually ringing until the user hangs up.
  • The poster about Houdini's 'Watery Grave' challenge is possibly a reference to his 'Chinese Water Torture Cell' challenge, arguably his most famous escape.
