[edit] History

Re Earl Cameron on the Trans-Canada Network of CBC Radio. In fact, during the 1944-1962 period when the CBC English radio network was split, the Dominion Network was the main network, reaching small towns as well as large cities. The Trans-Canada Network offered "lighter programming", and did not reach all of Canada. When CBC reached the north in 1958-1959, it was the Dominion network that did so.

The Trans-Canada's anchor station in Ontario was CJBC-AM, which became redundant in 1962, and was later converted to the French language, later becoming the originating station of a network of repeaters on the AM and FM bands. Until 1962, one Trans-Canada affiliate was CHLO St. Thomas, while CFPL in London, which was the Dominion affiliate during that 18-year-period, continued as the CBC's affiliate in London until 1978.

[edit] Knowlton Nash era

Are you sure he left The National in 1988? According to numerous CBC archive videos, I'm sure he left the chair in 1992.

Nash was a frequent substitute for Mansbridge early in the latter's tenure. - Another anon.

[edit] Ratings

It'd be interesting to dig up some ratings of the National compared to CTV or Global news... Cacofonie 03:55, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The National in HD?

I heard on the main CBC article that The National was going to go HD later this year, could we get some sources on that? ViperSnake151 00:38, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
