(Moved from Talk:Duchess of Malfi):

Why is this on Speedy deletion? It's coherent, sensible, informative and should be merged with the other article instead of being outright deleted.--Pharos 23:38, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I happened to come across the duplication while browsing and proposed a merge. I don't have a passion either way. But I'd note (a) The Singing Badger's summary claims "reads like plagiarism, doesn't have much unique info, contains several inaccuracies" and (b) this article is mostly about Webster's career at the time and barely about the play. If anything, the information should be merged into John Webster. David Brooks 01:58, 15 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Excellent thought, David Brooks! I have moved the text to John Webster, where all are invited to vet it and improve it, especially User:The Singing Badger who is so knowledgable about Webster's career that he detected "several inaccuracies." —and listed this as a candidate for speedy deletion! This entry can now be deleted, once this Discussion has been moved to Talk:The Duchess of Malfi--Wetman 03:03, 15 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bandello

"events ... recounted in William Painter's The Palace of Pleasure (1567)" - who took them from Bandello's novella 'Il signor Bologna sposa la duchessa di Malfi e tutti dui sono ammazzati' ('Mr Bologna marries the Duchess of Malfi and both are killed'), vol. 1, novella XXVI. --Tridentinus 08:56, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
