Tambov Oblast (Russian: Тамбо́вская о́бласть, Tambovskaya oblast) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). Its administrative center is the city of Tambov.
Population was estimated at 1,144,800 as of 2005[1], down from 1,320,763 recorded by the 1989 Census. The 2002 Census number was 1,178,443.
