Tablelands Regional Council

Tablelands Regional Council is a proposed Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area will be created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in Far North Queensland, will contain the entire area of four existing Local Government Areas;

The report recommends that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect eight councillors and a mayor. The Tablelands Regional Council will cover an area of 64,999 square kilometres (25,096 sq mi), contain an estimated resident population in 2006 of 42,145 and have an estimated operating budget of AUD62.2m.

The Regional Council will cover the towns of Atherton, Butchers Creek, Chillagoe, Dimbulah, Herberton, Jaggan, Kairi, Kuranda, Malanda, Mareeba, Millaa Millaa, Mount Garnet, Mount Molloy, Peeramon, Ravenshoe, Tarzali, Tinaroo, Tolga and Yungaburra.
