T on the Fringe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
T on the Fringe, sponsored by Tennent's Lager, is a music festival which runs as part of the Edinburgh Festival.
Since 2000, T on the Fringe has played host to some of the most commercially successful artists as well as the best in alternative and emerging talent. Over the years the event has seen performances by the likes of Pixies, Radiohead, Muse, Morrissey, Nancy Sinatra, Franz Ferdinand, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Kaiser Chiefs and Arcade Fire.
2006 saw the most successful T on the Fringe in its seven year history with 100,000 tickets sold for almost 60 gigs featuring 134 artists. Snow Patrol rocked the 22,000 Meadowbank crowd in what was their biggest headline gig yet, while at the same time breaking a record already held by T on the Fringe for the biggest show at the Edinburgh Fringe.
It was announced that in 2008, T on the Fringe would be renamed The Edge Festival, alluding to its continuing links with the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. It also marked the end of the Tennent's sponsorship of the event. Organisers are to reveal more about the revamped event in the coming months.
