Stonegate-Queensway is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the former city of Etobicoke. Its boundaries are roughly Islington Avenue to the west, Bloor Street to the north, the Humber River to the east, and the Gardiner Expressway to the south.
[edit] Character
Mainly comprised of 1950's era low rise apartment buildings and an old turn-of-the century market garden community that was absorbed by the city as it grew, the neighborhood remains very much as it was half a century ago. Being difficult to access, with no major arteries going in or out, there is little traffic, and the only amenities in the area are in the Stonegate Plaza, which include delis, dollar stores, a pharmacy, a laundromat, and a Valu-Mart. The southeast portion of the neighborhood is relatively low-rent, also low-crime, with a high population of European immigrants.
- Schools
It is also home to Sunnylea Junior School. Bishop Allen Academy, Etobicoke School of the Arts, École Sainte-Marguerite d'Youville as well as a senior's home are all found within a few blocks.
