[edit] History
Licensed in 1996 by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) for CHUM Limited, Star! was launched on September 10, 1999. On June 22, 2007, CTVglobemedia gained control of Star! as a result of a takeover of CHUM Limited.
The station formerly broadcast programming from the equivalent American cable network E! until that network licensed their name to Global's secondary broadcast CH television system and transferred their programming to that service, now known as E! (Canada)
