[edit] New Article
This a new article in response to the comments discussed as per the WikiProject Saskatchewan newsletter. Please extend a note to any folks you know who may have an interest in Sports and or Saskatchewan to expand this newly created outline which begins to introduce the visitor to the many and varied sport articles and sections already on Wikipedia about Sports in Saskatchewan. The sections need to be filled out somewhat as per the to do list, but it gives a starting place to join together the awesome content by many wiki editors.SriMesh | talk 06:51, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] An Invite to join Saskatchewan WikiProject
|
Hi, you are graciously extended an invitation to join the Saskatchewan WikiProject! The Saskatchewan WikiProject is a fairly new WikiProject. We are a group of editors who are dedicated to creating, revising, and expanding articles, lists, categories, and Wikiprojects, to do with anything Saskatchewan. |
| We look forward to welcoming you to the project! SriMesh | talk 06:51, 5 August 2007 (UTC) |
[edit] Notable Saskatchewan people in Sport
Comments about expanding this section....
- Should the person just need to be added to the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame but their birth origin is elsewhere, so not a native Saskatchewaninian.
- Should they be native Saskatchewan's who make an athletic name for themselves elsewhere?
- The list has been started with native born Saskatchewan folk, who also contributed to Saskatchewan sports as team player, athlete, or builder.SriMesh | talk 07:06, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- I recommend grouping them together by sport. Canuckle 22:50, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Footnotes problem
Wikipedia is not a source, yet 14 footnotes lead to other Wikipedia articles. I suggest this be fixed, and I offer here two possible solutions. If the claims are controversial (which they don't appear to be), we need a footnote referring to a reliable source external to Wikipedia. If non-controversial, appropriate links to the articles in question (assuming those are properly sourced) should suffice. Biruitorul 04:01, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- I have not seen a wikipedia rule stating that wikipedia is not a source - could you please refer me to the page where this cannot be a footnote, please? If I have information from another wikipedia article that is useful to this article how do I honour the first wikipedia article? SriMesh | talk 02:16, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- There is actually a long-standing rule stating that Wikipedia articles should not be used as sources for other Wikipedia articles, it's normally in Wikipedia:Citing sources, but someone removed it without consensus a while back, a change which went unnoticed until now. It's going to be restored soon, the article is protected, but one of the protecting admins stated such in Citing Wikipedia articles. Dreadstar † 19:30, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Overlinking
I believe this article is way overlinked, the sheer volume of links is almost overwhelming - I can't even evaluate the wikilinkage to see if there are duplicates or other issues. Please read WP:MOS Over/under-linking best ratio, and address the article accordingly. Thanks! Dreadstar † 18:15, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
