Talk:Sophie Ellis-Bextor
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
See also the discussion on the unhyphenated (now redirect) page.
The official S E-B site has a hyphen clearly on the front/title page. There is good reason to believe that she is self-hyphenated, having been given both her parents' surnames. Therefore this should be the right page, and the unhyphenated name article should be a redirect here. Until someone can find some evidence. And I don't mean spotting the other version 'on the internet'.
[edit] Clean-up
I've added recent info, but I haven't gone for research on her latest singles yet as I was in a hole searching for info on her chart position with Circles... where can I get that info? Will edit further! --Alex¯Jon
- Reply to above: It seems like Circles peaked at no.3 http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20370&start=50 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.168.58.147 (talk • contribs) 23:54 29 December 2005 UMT

- That link is to some guy called Oxy's personal chart. I'm sure readers of Wiki would prefer the official UK chart position. Normally this kind of data would come from one of the external links at UK Singles Chart but they normally only have a record of the top 40. Afraid Circles bombed and wasn't commercially successful. The link in the thread gives some clues but isn't definitive --PTSE 00:29, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh, Im sorry ;) thanks :)
[edit] Her pets
I added info about her 2 cats, who deleted it and why?
Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.168.58.147 (talk • contribs) 22:39, 28 December 2005 UMT
- If you click the history tab on the article page you can see who reverted your entry. --PTSE 00:34, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Circles & RML
Was circles released in 2004 or 2005? It says 05 in the main artcle but 04 in her discog..
"her debut album, Read My Lips (which made it to number 9 on the charts)" Her discog says that it made it to no.2! Which is right? :P thanks
[edit] certifications/awards
I'm going to try to find out what songs went platinum & gold & the places they got platinum & gold in. Also their peak on the charts.
Any help would be appriciated. EDIT: Some links ive used.. [1] [2] [3]
[edit] "Years active 2000- Present"
I think you should include her theaudience days... like 1998? I'll chack that.. or is that her solo years active?
[edit] Peak at..?
According to: [4] I won't change you peaked at no.4! Is it false?
"UK Singles Top 40. Date: 2004-01-04. Position: 4"
EDIT: Mixed up world peaked at no.3? [5]
EDIT2: Get over you @ 3 in Australia?
top40-charts.com isn't really a good sorce of information for chart positions for the UK. Lillygirl 8:37, 27 May 2006
[edit] "She has a cult following within the gay community."
Really? A cult! I don't think so.. ;)
You don't think so? I do think so. It does need referencing, though. Magic Pickle

REPLY to above: Bass player for The Feeling, he used to be her bass player.
[edit] Birthplace
I know London and Middlesex can be said to overlap; but can we be more specific and consistent about her birthplace? Opening sentence says Middlesex; biography says London. President Lethe 01:30, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- We now seem to have contrasting birth places quoted in the present article as London and Coventry ! Which is correct ?

[edit] Trivia
This page needs some trivia. I'm going to e-mail the Sophie Online Fan Site to ask them if they are willing to donate some of their trivia to Wikipedia. - Crazy Eddy 11:20, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- This isn't a fan site. Wikipedia should show the most relevant information about her career along with basic biographical background info. Wikipedia isn't the place for listing her pets, what colors she likes, &c. Leave the fan-site stuff to ... the Sophie Online Fan Site. President Lethe 15:30, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- I meant PROPER trivia, not insignificant things that you so kindly noted. Notice that almost every other article in Wikipedia has at least one piece? Well this article doesn't. But it should. It doesn't matter anyway, that website didn't bother to reply.Crazy Eddy 16:30, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- They don't need to "donate" their trivia anyway. As long as they are putting the information on the web, it can be quoted and cited as a source in Wikipedia articles. wikipediatrix 19:02, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Move This Mountain
I looked on this article and the Read My Lips page and didn't see any chart information for "Move This Mountain". Is there any reason for this? Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 21:39, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- I know of no other reason for the information's absence than someone's not coming along and adding it. If you have the information, or can give us a source for it, then you or one of us can add it to the article. :-) President Lethe 22:08, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
-
- Move This Mountain was a Double A-Side with Get Over You, where GOY charted, MTM charted I think.

[edit] Singer-Songwriter?
Should it be added that she is a singer-songwriter? Beacuse she has written or co-written most of her music..
- I'm not sure if that makes her a singer-songwriter. You don't call Gwen Stefani a singer-songwriter, and she's written or co-written most of her music. Artists who are considered to be singer-songwriters include Bob Dylan and Alanis Morrisette. Sophie Ellis Bextor isn't that sort.80.41.41.137 19:07, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- How about singer and songwriter? -Anthony- 02:34, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

- That's ridiculous when you consider some of the articles that never get deleted. Nukleoptra 11:46, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Theaudience-Theaudience-125748.jpg
Image:Theaudience-Theaudience-125748.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Lover (Sophie Ellis-Bextor song)
Just came across this article. Could someone please deal with it as appropriate- add links in appropriate places (navbox, this article, etc) if real, and nominate for deletion if not. Thanks. J Milburn (talk) 11:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
