Simone Del Nero, (born August 4, 1981 in Ortonovo, La Spezia) is an Italian footballer who plays as a striker. He currently plays in Serie A with S.S. Lazio after joining on a free five-year deal from Serie B club Brescia .
In his career he has also played for Empoli F.C.. With the Italy national under-21 football team he won the 2004 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship and a bronze medal at 2004 Summer Olympics.
Not much was expected from Del Nero when he first arrived at Lazio, but he proved that he is no Serie B player in the match against Dinamo Bucureşti, the second leg of the qualifier for Champion's League. He earned a penalty and did well passes. He is mainly used as an attacking midfielder, rather than striker at the moment.
