[edit] Summary

An unusual case involving a scuba-diver found dead up a tree after a forest fire leads Nick and Catherine through various different theories until they find the truth. Meanwhile, Grissom gets angry in the search for a crime when a tenant leaves his apartment covered in blood spatter.

[edit] Critical analysis

The case that gives the episode its title is based on a classic urban myth[1] which was debunked on MythBusters.

[edit] Continuity

The scene where Sara Sidle dusts plaster fragments from Grissom's face outside the apartment is later used as evidence in "The Accused is Entitled". The attempt is to show that there is a romantic attachment between the two, even though no such relationship is revealed until the end of season six in "Way To Go".
