The Scottish Premier Reserve League is the top reserve team league for Scottish football teams. The competition started at the same time as the inauguration of the Scottish Premier League in the 1998-99 season and was initially an under-21 league, with a quota of 5 players over the age limit allowed per team, per match.
The inaugural competition was won by St Johnstone, who won 17 of their 27 matches, losing on only 5 occasions, most notably 5-0 to Dundee United on 6 May 1999.
