Mendip way
Rod, if you have a moment, will you take a look at User:Derek Andrews/mendipway and tell me if I am on the right track here. I don't want to do this for the whole route and then have objections regarding original research or insufficient citations. My argument is that it is citing the OS maps, making a written description from their visual description. I plan on walking as much of the route soon to add more photographs. Derek Andrews (talk) 12:04, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply Rod. The link to South West Coast Path was what I really needed. I have looked at lots of path pages and not found any with significant content, so I will use that and Leeds Country Way as good examples to follow. As for grid refs, I was only going to add those for the two ends of the trail, and I think they would be better placed in the infobox. I don't know how of the trail I will get done. It will probably be sections that I can get to by bus. I just hope the weather is good:) Derek Andrews (talk) 14:11, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Assessment
Sure. It is still only the basics though. But i'll see what i can do. Simply south (talk) 21:32, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, i've created an assessment department but it will have to be adapted from there. Its a start though. (And i borrowed some stuff from the Somerset project) Simply south (talk) 23:51, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Why?
Hi Rod!
Quick one - why was my Cheddar edit deemed inappropriate?

Ah, fair enough.
Hi Rod!
Then I shall do a Wikipedia page on who the Terrys are and the significance it has for the town, then re do it.

Combwich
That is just a tag at the bottom of the page. Click on the Enter button, it is only a new site but it is growing as more people from the village are starting to submit information and pictures for it.
It is linked to from the Cannington website as well as many other local ones like the local pub and boat club. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonicblue (talk • contribs) 11:31, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
I am confused. When I click on that I see this page (That is another link to it using the my sub domain instead of the main domain) I am in the process of changing the Name Server to park to domain on my web host but I didn't think that had come into effect yet. I will make sure that my Host is handling the new domain properly. Sorry about the confusion. --Tonicblue (talk) 15:14, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

I saw your name at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Photographers. I revised the pages at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in England. Please consider adding your name to the top of the page at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Somerset and to any of the other subpages for Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in England. "The" in The Hammer Museum
I used "The" in the title to distinguish this museum from the Hammer Museum. I suppose it could be changed to Hammer Museum (Haines, AK). What do you think?Mycota (talk) 00:00, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Museums in Cheshire
(copied from response on WP:CHES's talk page.) I've added a load (yesterday) and tried to put in either websites or contact details for them, too, to reassure people that they are real (like the "Cuckoo Clock Museum", for instance). May be there are more, or there are some which could be added but which I thought were outside the remit of the project? What kinds of places which one might not immediately think of as museums would be included? DDStretch (talk) 11:14, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Alterations to The Castle School
Hi Rodw, I had to edit a page of Wikipedia for a course I am studying, and provide reasons for doing so, and proof that I had done it, plus critisism on the edit from an interested party. I found a couple or errors and omissions, which I have corrected. If you would like to comment anonymously, I could use that as my feedback. I'm certainly not going to start an edit war! :-)

The Castle School - alterations
Hi Rodw, Thanks for the feedback, it was very useful to a first time editor. I didn't use the term CDT, or write about the all weather pich, they were already in place, but I understand your comments. Thanks for pointing ouy the protocols, I must admit I'm on a tight schedule, and didn't read all the help pages. I chose this page to edit because I work there and my children attended the school. The course I am doing is an Open University module on Systems Thinking (T214). Regards, Nethobo —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nethobo (talk • contribs) 16:08, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Palazzo Pitti
Rod! I know I only come here to moan, one day I will come grinning like a Cheshire cat...but how can the Palazzo Pitti be a museum of only mid importance [1]. It contains some of the greatest paintings of the world, hundreds of rooms packed with artefacts and art of the greatst importance. Not to mention the gallery of modern art, where I intend to gave my ashes scattered (when no-one is looking). The collections of the Medici are there, the greatest collectors of art the world has ever known. After the Uffizi it is Florence's greatest gallery, in my view, for the less intelectual tourist it is better than the Uffizi because the items are in the habitat and setting for which they were intended. The Palazzo contains not one single ugly object. It is one of the world's premier museums. Giano (talk) 18:24, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey, Rod, I'm coming to this completely out of left field... being a botany/medical writer by training ... but I would have to agree with Giano above. Everyone from everywhere goes to the "Pitti Palace" when in Florence. It's a must-see, truly a world-class attraction.Celia Kozlowski (talk) 23:20, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Quantock Hills
Hi Rod, Thanks for the note about your schedule. I hope to finish the review today unless a real-life event prevents it. I'm doing a few light edits as I go, partly to be helpful and partly because it's often easier to make a change than to write an explanation. Finetooth (talk) 15:31, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Done and on hold. Given your schedule, the seven days is really more like five days. If this proves to be too much of a crunch, let me know, and we'll work out something else. Finetooth (talk) 01:51, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Somerset Tower
I couldn't decide between Somerset Tower vs. Somerset Towers... but I have pushed this towering inferno? out there into wikispace. I took your suggestion and just went with the Poyntz Wright scheme, but added weasel language and put in italics all the dates and categorization from him... It may not be wiki style, but it does let people know what came from him and that they should be on their guard. Can you check to be sure I didn't italicize dates that you may have got from elsewhere? I did change the description of Langport All Saints -- it said it has an octagonal tower, but I've been there.. and as the picture shows, the tower is quite square. The turret does look a bit octagonal, so I said square tower (with octagonal turret). I wonder if maybe that got confused with Somerton -- it does have a famous octagonal tower (as does N. Curry) but I didn't go into any of those in this article... which is probably too long already!
Is there a special Wiki for architecture? It would be good to have someone who actually knows something about the subject have a look...
Also ... I'm so hopeless with reference formatting.... Could you fix West Monkton and Thurlbear so the references number properly?
in any case, thanks for all your help, as always,Celia Kozlowski (talk) 23:16, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh! I found the architecture wiki project and posted a note on their talk page asking them to have a look. Maybe I'll also have my friend Jim and my sister look in, too. cheers!Celia Kozlowski (talk) 23:38, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
More Castle School
Hi Rod, I made another brief edit. I changed 'CDT rooms' to 'Craft Design and Technology department' as you suggested, and added Art Department to bring it up to date. Hope this is ok. If I can get hold of some images next term, I will be in touch for advice on how to add them. Hope it looks ok. Help on referencing content
Thanks for the welcome - its like being a new kid at school. I am responsible for Flat Holm Island and have set the team the challenge of getting to featured article status. We have a wealth of information on every aspect of Flat Holm and the Wardens have now got a broadband link so it will help pass the lonely hours between school visits. My question is how should we reference facts which come from our own leaflets and reports etc? I've looked at the guidance and various examples but still not sure. Also any advice on the long haul to the prized star staus would be much appreciated
Thanks in anticipation

Sandbox testing?
Hi Rod thanks for the tips - it seems a good idea to work out things in my sandbox until I've got the style right - but I'm not sure if I've set up the test area correctly so if you have time please will you look at this Sandbox and let me know if I'm doing it right? Thanks Tony (talk) 11:57, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Halsway Manor
I have nominated Halsway Manor, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Halsway Manor. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Hakluyt's memorial tablet in Bristol Cathedral
Hi, Rod. Bristol Cathedral helpfully e-mailed two images to me – one of the memorial tablet, and the other of a wonderful stained-glass image of Hakluyt. I've uploaded these to the Wikimedia Commons: see "Category:Richard Hakluyt". However, if you would like to take more photographs and add them to the category, please feel free to do so. And thanks again for volunteering! — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 23:11, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Page protections
It's preemptive anti-Grawp protection -- he seems to like moving featured geography articles. I'm going to put a note on my talk page saying that I'm willing to move any article I've move-protected if the move has been discussed and there is consensus for it. I really can't think of a good reason to move a featured article without any discussion. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:39, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Bath Abbey
While I put the template on, intending to review it, I notice somebody else had already put the template on the article talkpage before me, so he or she gets precedence.. --Relata refero (disp.) 12:31, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- My feeling is that the article is likely to fail GA unless the issue about "A lot more expansion of the history section, please. It is outweighed by the organ section" is addressed. I can help with the copyediting, but I can't help with the history aspect. As it happens, I agree with the reviewer; almost half of the article is about the organ, not the abbey. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 23:10, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Avonfirebadge.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Avonfirebadge.gif. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria.
