Rishton is a small town in the Hyndburn district of Lancashire, England, about 2 miles west of Clayton-le-Moors and 4 miles east of Blackburn. It constituted an urban district from 1894 to 1974.

Rishton was the first place that the cloth calico was woven on an industrial scale.[citation needed] Its name means "village amid the rushes".[1]

Rishton has many good places to visit. Search no further than Cutwood Park for children's entertainment and football. Rishton has its fair share of youth problems, including graffiti and anti-social behaviour.

If you enjoy a tranquil walk then look no further than the white path and into Tottleworth which is a small hamlet. Along your way to Tottleworth, you can see the old train line that ran to Great Harwood and Padiham.[original research?]
