Peter Maher

Maher isn't in the HHOF. It's that simple. You way wish that he was, you may want to write a letter to the HHOF asking him to be inducted, you may think it's a travesty that he isn't ... none of which changes the fact that he is not in the HHOF. If you want to change the section header so that it would include people other than HHOF inductees, then that's something you can discuss with the Wikipedia community (or just make the changes and see if anyone challenges them). But as it is, the section is for hall of famers, and your personal opinion that someone who received an award from the HHOF should also be included is just that -- your personal opinion -- and not something you should try to pass as fact or as a consensus reached by the Wikipedians. --Walor 17:13, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

NHL season template

Hi! I was wondering if you could possibly make the conferance syntax optional or add a league syntax. I tried to add this template to a non NHL team season page but it didn't display league. With a league syntax this template could be used for many more leagues and former leagues as the WHA. Thanks. --Krm500 14:14, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do. I don't want to make that template overly large or complex (moreso than it already is), so it might be best to copy it to a new template, remove the NHL specific stuff and add in more general syntax for a wider variety of leagues. Resolute 16:53, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
I have the template in my sandbox. --Krm500 17:34, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, the in the header to the onfobox the 2006-07 is linked to the 2006-07 NHL season. Is it possible to remove that link when used in a non NHL teams seasons page? --Krm500 17:40, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Try using this modified version of the template: Template:IcehockeyTeamSeason. If there is anything else that needs adding or changing, feel free to mention it on my talk page, or on the talk page for this template. Resolute 18:01, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

pawgabr's response

what's so wrong about my dion phaneuf picture? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pawgabr (talkcontribs).

Aside from the fact that you very clearly did not create that image, thus have an invalid claim to release it to the public domain, you have uploaded it as a means to disparage the subject, as confirmed by your other edits. I would suggest that you read Wikipedia's policies on vandalism, and look to add constructively to the project, rather than destructively. Resolute 06:03, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

I took this picture from a public domain, I feel that you violated my publishing right plus the picture isn't really destructive, it shows off phaneuf's great skating skill.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pawgabr (talkcontribs).

The internet is not public domain. Please read Wikipedia's fair use policy, specifically point nine under the "counterexamples" section. Also, please sign your posts using for tildes ((~~~~)), it helps identify who is leaving the messages. Thank you. Resolute 06:12, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Ultimate X-Men (story arcs): Peer Review

Greetings! In December of 2006, you participated in the discussion for the 2nd deletion nomination of Ultimate X-Men (story arcs). After two months of rewriting, reorganizing, and referencing, the article is now undergoing a WikiProject Comics peer review. Your editorial opinion would be most welcome to help us improve the article to A-class status. Thanks for your time! - fmmarianicolon | Talk 06:16, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Unnecessary?

I was wondering why I was sent a message regarding "vandalism" on the Calgary Flames entry. If you ACTUALLY took the time to check the history and contributions from me, you'd see that I was attempting to REMOVE vandalism and keep things from getting out of hand, but whatever. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mrkurto (talkcontribs) 06:56, 22 April 2007 (UTC).

Oh... crap. I tagged the wrong person. My aplogies. Resolute 15:11, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Speedy tagging

Hi Resolute, please make sure you warn article creators when you tag pages for speedy deletion. It takes only a few extra seconds and is the proper courtesy to extend to the article creator, who can argue their case for keeping the article. I notice you did not do this for Disaster and Despair. While I agree this is an easy {{db-band}}, we have to give people a chance. Thanks, and keep up the good work, – Riana 05:06, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Pokeman image deletion review

You recently voted on a templates for deletion discussion on Template:PokeImageNR and several other templates. The result was for deletion. The matter is now before deletion review. Please comment if you would like, one way or the other. The users of the Pokeman Wikiproject believe that their case was not fully heard the first time the matter was up for deletion. So please review the situation if you would like. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 21:45, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

NHLabbr Template

My apologies. I nominated the template, mainly upon the fact that when I did, it wasn't linked to much of anything. Now I can see how useful it really is, and I wanted to apologize for the nomination. Good job on the hard work, and I am thankful the voting process has obviously shown a keep on the template. 2005-06 Calgary Flames season

I was just getting some work done on the corresponding Canucks season article by copying the Flames article and noticed something. On the player stats seciton, at the bottom of it is a list called All Traded Players. I just want to clarify what that represents. As I see it, it is the cumalative totals of all the players the Flames traded over the season. Thanks. Kaiser matias 04:40, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, that is what it represents. I've been using the Flames Media Guide as my primary source for the player stats, and it piles all of the departed players together into the All Traded Players category. I may expand that later, but for now felt that was adequate. Resolute 13:27, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Good call... I was debating about reverting that... but I was worried about causing an edit war with an anon. WP:AIV Request

Thank you for making a report about Me7891 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. I think you might have reported a different user. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charles Ramsay Arbuthnot

Hi- could you take a look at the further info I have added here as it may change your stance? Regards Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 01:14, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi, sorry to bother you again but an incorrect impression may have been given by some users about the importance of the role of ADC to the King so if you can chevk you still agree with keeping I'd be grateful. Thanks ! Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 11:09, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I gathered the role wasn't of key importance, as there would otherwise be a greater number of biographies to draw from if he was an important member of the Kings council. In this case, this Arbuthnot seems to barely gain notability via quantity of achievements rather than the quality of them. He's a marginal keep at best, but I don't feel terribly inclined to change my vote again on this AfD. Thanks, Resolute 13:30, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

I'd appreciate an acknowledgement.

Greetings, you raised a concern on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Walid Said Bin Said Zaid. I replied by trying to draw your attention to a reply I drafted the last time I was asked this question, here.

  • I'd be very grateful if you would acknowledge you were aware I replied to your concern.
  • I'd be very grateful if you told me whether you took the time to read my reply to the concern you raised.
  • And I would be very grateful if you let me know whether you formed your opinion of the article after reading the ten factors for and against Said Zaid's continued detention.

Cheers! Geo Swan 06:46, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I have read your argument, and no, I still do not find it changes my mind. I did not define what type of prisoner Walid Said Bin Said Zaid was, I stated that simply being a prisoner is no sign of notability. Only the lead statement of that article is about Walid, the rest of the article reads like an essay that has questionable relevance in a biography. IMO, there is no assertion of notability for this individual, thus I maintain my delete vote. Regards, Resolute 13:31, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Mike Keenan

Yeah, Keenan has virtually ruined every team he has been a part of. It's a shame the flames will have to suffer through him like my precious Canucks did. Anyways, I read the TSN article wrong (my bad), I thought it stated that he was officially hired by the Flames. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Thricecube 05:54, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Signing

Hahaha, best user page signing ever, man. I must say I laughed pretty hard internally... Oh yeah I have no idea what your Flames are doing with Keenan... since Huselius is gonna be useless for them now, I personally think a trade to the Leafs for a bag of pucks would be really useful. Croat Canuck Go Leafs Go 04:23, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Given the most valuable trading asset the Leafs have is a bag of pucks, I can understand that offer, heh. Both Juice and Keenan are saying the right things, but it should be interesting. Glad you enjoyed the comment. Resolute 05:34, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Montreal Expos merge tag

Hi. I have restored the merge tag. Although I personally do not favour the proposed merge, a merge has been proposed, and the discussion is ongoing. The tag does not mean that there is consensus for a merge, simply that a merge has been proposed. As per WP:MERGE, the use of the tag is appropriate. Given the many many times this issue has been raised over the past few years, and the numerous editors who have spoken in favour of the merger in the past, it is premature to state at this stage that there is "[c]learly no consensus for a merge", especially since the merger was proposed less than a week ago. This is not a WP:SNOW situation, and the use of the merge tag does not depend on the state of the discussion on the talk page. The tag should be removed when the discussion has been closed (which I hope will be, mercifully, soon). Skeezix1000 17:39, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

I guess I would just add this: as you can see Talk:Montreal Expos#Previous merge discussions, this debate has been going in mind-numbing circles for a few years now, despite the clear consensus in the 2005 AfD discussion. Let's just do this current debate properly -- give notice, allow for proper consultation -- so that at the end, assuming that the consensus is to maintain the separate Expos article (which I assume it will), we can have some degree of finality to this debate. We can't stop people from raising the issue again in the future, but at least then we would have two formal processes (one AfD, one Merge), both of which rejected a merge, that we could point to. Skeezix1000 18:54, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Got your comment. Thanks. I know what you're saying. WalterWalnuts, or whatever his name is, has rubbed me the wrong way, especially his comments along the line of "I am going to fight this until the page gets merged". But, to be fair, he is (now) proposing something different than the 2005 AfD, and all the talk page comments since 2005 suggest that he is not the only user who feels a merger is appropriate. I'm tired of this debate, esp. when the arguments in favour of the merger are so ridiculous, so I agree that it does seem a bit abusive to be raising it AGAIN. But let it play out, let's get the consensus we need, and then it will be much easier dealing with the WalterWalnuts of the future. Skeezix1000 19:05, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
It's been more than a week, and as you predicted, there is clearly no consensus for a merge. Can you think of an editor that we could call on (who has not participated in the discussion) to step in and close the discussion? Skeezix1000 13:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Current news

Is this something that was reached at WP:HOCKEY? I remember being told that all of them should be hidden till the season starts or at least till we're close to the season starting (excluding draft and the such). Or is this something that you see as being part of the season where as some of the other editors don't agree. I really don't care that much either way, only reason I hid it was because most of the other teams have it hidden as well. Bringing this up at WP:HOCKEY probably isn't a good idea right now, anyway...still some stuff that needs to be settled that it seems hasn't been, or it's at least not clear. Also, do you mind if I make some edits at List of Calgary Flames players? I know you're currently working on it and some editors extrememly dis-like when people come in and do something to a work-in-progress, so I figured I'd ask first. I'll try to do it at times where an edit conflict will definitely not occur, if that's alright with you. BsroiaadnTalk 05:58, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

If there was a discussion, I haven't seen it either...I just assumed when I was told and when people went through hiding them that there was one and I was too busy to check at the time. And nah, I'll leave it, that reason does make a lot of sense. Alright, thanks. I know how that is, man. I hope everything works out and goes well, or as well as it can go. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Montrealcanadienslogo1920.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Montrealcanadienslogo1920.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. fuzzy510 00:54, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi

Recently, you said that this material should be Speedily deleted here. However, an editor has come along, removed the copyright violations, sourced the article, and reduced to a stub. As such, your further input, considering the changes, would be highly valued, and your comment on whether you endorse his motion to close the debate or not would also be excellent. National Hockey League awards

Hi, I noticed that you will be working on National Hockey League awards, which will be tricky. I think it would be best to turn it into a chart because it is MUCH easier to pass an FL than an FA. It also wouldn't hurt to include an image of each trophy (you can make an image column on a chart, like this). Either way, it's your call. -- Scorpion0422 00:27, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Well, as part of another FT I'm working on, someone (not me) made this page, which summarizes the topic and is a current FLC (I think it is heading towards a pass) so you could start with that and make the columns: Award/Trophy, Criteria, Year it was first awarded (better title needed), Recent Winner(s). The images are optional, but in the WWE champions page, it used to have an image of each champion, but somebody in the FLC requested that they be remove. So, perhaps it would be best to avoid the individual images. Again, it's your call. -- Scorpion0422 00:34, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Congrats Resolute, didn't I say you'd be a shoo-in? If you feel like showing off your sysop status, go down to the WikiProject Participants section and put the qualification beside your name. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 22:24, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Deletion log history

Hey Resolute!

I was perusing your deletion logs, and you're doing a fine job in deleting speedy pages. The only thing that I'd advise you on is to fill in the deletion summary with more than just what's automatically in the box for speedy pages. The reason for this is that you may accidentally leave the text of a copyright vio or an attack page in the deletion summary and thus in the deletion log. Only a dev can alter the deletion log, so it's better safe than sorry and now's the time to start building good habits. There are a couple scripts available that'll provide a drop down summary option.

Keep up the good work! Keegantalk 04:46, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Archiving request

Hi! I'm one of the WP:HOCKEY/SWEDEN editors.

Firstly, just wanted to say grats to the adminship (is it a cyberspaceship?). Respect. :)

Also, I would like to politely request - you or someone else more experienced than me - to create Archive13 for WT:HOCKEY (or Archive14 if the project is superstitious). Talkpage has grown a lot since last time (see table. I know how to do tables anyway...) and I guess some old topics should be cleaned at least when talkpage is twice the size of its largest archive page. I would do the process myself, but I'm not really sure how just yet, and the talk page is getting painfully slow on my old system. Didn't really want to post this to the project talkpage itself. Whenever you have the time. Or, forward it to someone else if not. And thanks, either way!

Talkpage topics kB
Archive1 23 64
Archive2 43 89
Archive3 48 94
Archive4 36 81
Archive5 58 113
Archive6 30 47
Archive7 26 29
Archive8 31 64
Archive9 45 77
Archive10 41 77
Archive11 34 114
Archive12 25 91
WT:HOCKEY 79 228

Humbly,
-- Bamsefar75 00:29, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Well done. :) I noticed that IrisKawling had added more to Archive12 despite the latest page being Archive14. I think I managed to move it to Archive14 instead where it chronologically belongs. --Bamsefar75 16:33, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Woodland Stewards Article

In response to your note regarding the lack of notability, in comparing the article to others of a similar nature, I noticed there appeared to be no such information within those articles. How do I establish the needed notability within the article?

Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lcoyle (talkcontribs)

The Puppetmastaz

Why, instead of speedy deleting "The Puppetmastaz" stub, didn't you just drop a warning on my talk page, and then delete it in... say two days instead of the few hours when I was sleeping ? The band is very notable, in fact I wrote the stub because of an article in a nationwide newspaper in my country (France) that mentionned them as very notable, which hardily seems the case for all obscure bands mentionned in wikipedia ... So, please indicate me how I should recreate the page to conform with wikipedia's policy because I am a bit puzzled. Pointing to a verifiable source on why they are notable directly in the first revision would be enough or not ? Please answer on my own talk page, thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Donvinzk (talkcontribs) 05:41, August 27, 2007 (UTC)

I do not want to engage in a long discussion about the functionning of Wikipedia since you are more an expert than me on the matter. However, may I point out that the introduction of the Criteria Policy for Speedy Deletion" page you cited mention: "Before nominating an article for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved or reduced to a stub; if so, speedy deletion is probably inappropriate. Contributors sometimes create articles over several edits, so try to avoid deleting a page too soon after its creation if it appears incomplete. Users nominating a page for speedy deletion should specify which criteria the page meets, and consider notifying the page's creator.". None of which you have done, have you ? Plus, I am not creating a page about the minor band in the neighbourhood: the german wikipedia already as a page on them. Your doubts about the incompleteness of my articles were funded (hence the stub tag), and I thank you for pointing on them. I will adress the issues so the article may have a clean start. Zeitgeist

Why was the Zeigeist page deleted? I don't understand why we cannot have an article on that conspiracy movie on wikipedia.
