[edit] Appropriateness of question 7
(moved from project page)
- 7. Why didn't you tell us about this account which was used recently? And what was this edit about? (from Miranda)
- Jumping the Gun Alternate accounts are perfectly acceptible; you need to familiarize yourself with policy before saying someone has violated it. As for the other one, it's obvious vandalism. EVula // talk // ☯ // 05:21, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've been skeptical about the other oppose reasons, but Miranda's right about these. There's no notice on Crazytales userpage about the alternate account, which is a lack of thorough disclosure (though it is clear at User:CrazytalesPublic that it is an alternate account, so it's not like Crazy was trying, or could have done anything, in violation of policy). As to part two, if you look at all the text removed, there are comments from other editors, such as Gracenotes, so it's hardly vandalism.--Chaser - T 05:29, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the policy page doesn't actually state that you have to declare your socks. Yeah, it's great for people to use {{User Alt Acct Master}}, but not a requirement (and in my opinion, not a reason to harass someone in their RfA).
- As for the diff, the initial post was superflous commentary that didn't deserve to be there in the first place; removing it (and any responses) is perfectly fair, especially considering that it was extremely off-topic for a Mediawiki talk page. EVula // talk // ☯ // 05:38, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[De-indent] I don't think this question was inappropriate, and I must respect the concerns raised by Miranda. I agree that I was in the wrong by not putting {{User Alt Acct Master}} on my user page; I forgot to do so, although I did declare on User:CrazytalesPublic and in both accounts' signatures. The ^demon userpage edits were a bit immature, they were on April Fool's Day and ^demon was speedy closing any April Fools AFDs. —Crazytales (talk) (alt) 10:55, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Spirit of the policy, people. It's not like having a second account named CrazyTalesPublic is an attempt to "avoid scrutiny". Sure, an alternate account template would be nice, but it's clear he was respecting the spirit of the policy on alternate accounts, and I don't see this as a failing. In fact, I think he should be commended for protecting the security of his account, particularly given the number of admin accounts that have been hijacked lately. User:EVula is making an awful lot of sense today. MastCell Talk 03:21, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Alternate accounts are expressly permitted by policy and userboxes ad user categories are never mandatory. I fail to see the reason for the question, although I think CrazyTales's answer is clear enough. — Carl (CBM · talk) 21:46, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Comment on nomination
"Literally" means true to the letter. Crazytales does not have "almost a ton (literally) of mainspace edits." He has almost a ton (figuratively). Thank you. Chick Bowen 04:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think what Tennisman was using 'ton' as was 2000, not 2000lb. He was blending definitions 1 and 4. I've seen 'ton' used as a general 2000. —Crazytales (talk) (alt) 14:52, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I'll let it slide then. Just this once. Chick Bowen 19:22, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ha, no problem. Just don't let the possible grammatical error affect your judgment of my worth as an admin candidate. (: —Crazytales (talk) (alt) 23:57, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
